Atmospheric dry deposition processes of particles on urban and suburban surfaces: Modelling and validation works
2019
Abstract Dry deposition process is one of the important pathways for the removal of particles from atmosphere. It is the result of a combination of different environmental and physical factors as atmospheric conditions, particle properties, characteristics of the canopy. For this latter factor, urban canopy represents unevenly combinations of different types of surface elements that increases the complexity of deposition process phenomena. Therefore, particle dry deposition on urban surfaces is not easy to configure and, although empirical or semi-empirical models in literature have been developed to address this aspect, there is not standardized and commonly accepted criteria, especially f…
Anomaly Detection in Traffic Surveillance Videos Using Deep Learning
2022
In the recent past, a huge number of cameras have been placed in a variety of public and private areas for the purposes of surveillance, the monitoring of abnormal human actions, and traffic surveillance. The detection and recognition of abnormal activity in a real-world environment is a big challenge, as there can be many types of alarming and abnormal activities, such as theft, violence, and accidents. This research deals with accidents in traffic videos. In the modern world, video traffic surveillance cameras (VTSS) are used for traffic surveillance and monitoring. As the population is increasing drastically, the likelihood of accidents is also increasing. The VTSS is used to detect abno…
Impact of the recommendations on the vaccination of the tetanus–diphtheria in the labor area
2017
Abstract Objective Our aim is evaluate vaccination guidelines that were published by Ministry of Health of Spain and his impact in a mutual injuries work of Spain (FREMAP). Method Is a retrospective observational study of vaccination with tetanus–diphtheria (Td) in adults of mutual injuries of work of Spain (FREMAP) between January 2010 and December 2013. Results We have registered 126,101 injured employees for vaccination; of those have been vaccinated 11,468 (9%). We have not found significant differences in employees with incapacity or no. We have not found significant differences by sex. We have found significant differences by age group (46–55 years), women more than men (χ2 = 4.422; p…
Analytical measurements of fission products during a severe nuclear accident
2018
The Fukushima accident emphasized the fact that ways to monitor in real time the evolution of a nuclear reactor during a severe accident remain to be developed. No fission products were monitored during twelve days; only dose rates were measured, which is not sufficient to carry out an online diagnosis of the event. The first measurements were announced with little reliability for low volatile fission products. In order to improve the safety of nuclear plants and minimize the industrial, ecological and health consequences of a severe accident, it is necessary to develop new reliable measurement systems, operating at the earliest and closest to the emission source of fission products. Throug…
Motorcyclists Safety System to avoid Rear End Collisions based on Acoustic Signatures
2017
International audience; In many Asian countries, motorcyclists have a higher fatality rate as compared to other vehicles. Among many other factors, rear end collisions are also contributing for these fatalities. Collision detection systems can be useful to minimize these accidents. However, the designing of efficient and cost effective collision detection system for motorcyclist is still a major challenge. In this paper, an acoustic information based, cost effective and efficient collision detection system is proposed for motorcycle applications. The proposed technique uses the Short time Fourier Transform (STFT) to extract the features from the audio signal and Principal component analysis…
On-line measurements of RuO$_4$ during a PWR severe accident
2015
International audience; After the Fukushima accident, it became essential to have a way to monitor in real time the evolution of a nuclear reactor during a severe accident, in order to react efficiently and minimize the industrial, ecological and health consequences of the accident. Among gaseous fission products, the tetroxide of ruthenium RuO$_4$ is of prime importance since it has a significant radiological impact. Ruthenium is a low volatile fission product but in case of the rupture of the lower head by the molten corium, the air entering into the vessel oxidizes Ru into gaseous RuO$_4$, which is not trapped by the Filtered Containment Venting Systems. To monitor the presence of RuO$_4…
Analysis of the 2011 Japan's triple disaster from a conceptual ontology of the domain of risk and disaster,
2012
International audience; In this paper, we propose to use the factual part of a conceptual ontology realized in 2009 (Provitolo and al. 2009 a) to analyze the disaster that occurred in Japan on 11 March 2011 and which was characterized by a sequence of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident. Many papers, reports, videos and press articles were published, each one providing a wide variety of information. Some fo- cused on the massive earthquake that triggered the devastating tsunami waves along the eastern coast of the Tohoku region while others mainly analyzed the nuclear crisis. The aim of this work is to syn- thesize in visual form information from various sources and to produce differen…
