Construct validity and reliability of the Finnish version of the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score

Background The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) is a commonly used knee assessment and outcome tool in both clinical work and research. However, it has not been formally translated and validated in Finnish. The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the KOOS questionnaire into Finnish and to determine its validity and reliability among Finnish middle-aged patients with knee injuries. Effect of Concurrent Visual Feedback Frequency on Postural Control Learning in Adolescents.

The purpose was to find better augmented visual feedback frequency (100% or 67%) for learning a balance task in adolescents. Thirty subjects were divided randomly into a control group, and 100% and 67% feedback groups. The three groups performed pretest (3 trials), practice (12 trials), posttest (3 trials) and retention (3 trials, 24 hours later). The reduced feedback group showed lower RMS in the posttest than in the pretest (p = 0.04). The control and reduced feedback groups showed significant lower median frequency in the posttest than in the pretest (p < 0.05). Electroretinographic response in WAG/Rij rats after low-intensity cyclic light exposure.

In order to investigate the combined influence of age and light, the b-wave and oscillatory potentials (OPs) of the electroretinogram (ERG) were recorded in 1.5-, 7- and 12-month-old WAG/Rij rats, reared under homogenous low-intensity cyclic light exposure. Wistar albino rats of the same ages, reared under the same conditions, served as controls. The b-wave amplitude decreased, and its implicit time increased in the older age groups significantly more in WAG/Rij than in Wistar rats. Glucagon-like peptide-2 and mouse intestinal adaptation to a high-fat diet.

Endogenous glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2) is a key mediator of refeeding-induced and resection-induced intestinal adaptive growth. This study investigated the potential role of GLP2 in mediating the mucosal responses to a chronic high-fat diet (HFD). In this view, the murine small intestine adaptive response to a HFD was analyzed and a possible involvement of endogenous GLP2 was verified using GLP2 (3–33) as GLP2 receptor (GLP2R) antagonist. Acute neuromuscular responses to maximum versus forced repetition (FR) knee extension resistance exercises (4 sets of 12 repetitions [reps] with a 2-minute recovery between the sets) were examined in 4 male strength athletes (SAs) and 4 nonathletes.
