Recombinant mussel protein Pvfp5β enhances cell adhesion of poly(vinyl alcohol)/k-carrageenan hydrogel scaffolds

2022

Polymeric hydrogels are increasingly considered as scaffolds for tissue engineering due to their extraordinary resemblance with the extracellular matrix (ECM) of many tissues. As cell adhesion is a key factor in regulating important cell functions, hydrogel scaffolds are often functionalized or loaded with a variety of bioactive molecules that can promote adhesion. Interesting biomimetic approaches exploit the properties of mussel-inspired recombinant adhesive proteins. In this work, we prepared hydrogel scaffolds with a 50%w mixture of k-carrageenan (kC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), by a two-step physical gelation process, and we coated them with Perna viridis foot protein-5 beta (Pvfp5 be…

Synthesis of vanillin in water by TiO2 photocatalysis

2012

Abstract The photoproduction of vanillin is studied in aqueous medium starting from trans-ferulic acid, isoeugenol, eugenol or vanillyl alcohol by using both commercial and home prepared TiO2 samples as photocatalysts and batch Pyrex photoreactors. The photo-oxidation at room temperature of these compounds produces vanillin with a selectivity ranging from 1.4 to 21 mol% with respect to the converted substrate. An investigation on the intermediates was performed in the case of trans-ferulic acid; for this substrate the most important intermediates were homovanillic acid, vanillyl mandelic acid, trans-caffeic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, and oxalic acid. The carbon mass balance, including …

Alkoxo, chlorido, and methyl derivatives of oxidomolybdenum(VI) complexes with tetradentate [O3N]-type ligands

2007

Dioxomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoO 2 (Heg) 2 ] (H 2 eg = 1,2-ethanediol) reacts with phenolic ligand precursors tris(2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylbenzyl)amine (H 3 L Me ) and tris(2-hydroxy-3,5-di- tert -butylbenzyl)amine (H 3 L t Bu ) to form oxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of type [MoO(L R ) (Heg)]. The Heg ligand can be replaced by other alcohols (i.e. 2-aminoethanol, 2-amino-2-methylpropan-1-ol, 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol or allyl alcohol) in the reaction at refluxing toluene or at neat alcohol. Treatment of [MoO(L R )(Heg)] with Me 3 SiCl yields corresponding chlorido complexes [MoO(L R )Cl]. These are also formed in the reaction of H 3 L R with [MoO 2 Cl 2 (dmf) 2 ]. The reaction of [MoO(L R )Cl] wi…

Isobaric (vapour+liquid+liquid) equilibrium data for (di-n-propyl ether+n-propyl alcohol+water) and (diisopropyl ether+isopropyl alcohol+water) syste…

2008

Abstract Isobaric (vapour + liquid + liquid) equilibria were measured for the (di-n-propyl ether + n-propyl alcohol + water) and (diisopropyl ether + isopropyl alcohol + water) system at 100 kPa. The apparatus used for the determination of (vapour + liquid + liquid) equilibrium data was an all-glass dynamic recirculating still with an ultrasonic homogenizer couple to the boiling flask. The experimental data demonstrated the existence of a heterogeneous ternary azeotrope for both ternary systems. The (vapour + liquid + liquid) equilibria data were found to be thermodynamically consistent for both systems. The experimental data were compared with the estimation using UNIQUAC and NRTL models a…

Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium for ternary mixtures of ethanol and methylcyclohexane with 3-methylpentane and tert-butyl alcohol at 101.3kPa

2007

Abstract Consistent vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the ternary systems 3-methylpentane + ethanol + methylcyclohexane and ethanol + tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) + methylcyclohexane are reported at 101.3 kPa. The VLE data have been correlated by Wilson, UNIQUAC and NRTL equations. The ternary systems do not present azeotrope and are well predicted from binary interaction parameters.

Predictors of weekly alcohol drinking and alcoholrelated problems in binge-drinking undergraduates

2015

Division of adolescent and school health, CDC, 1993.g.). Attiecīgā aptauja sastāv no 5 jautājumiem.

2010

In this work, 6,009 youngsters (14-25 years old) who practice the «botellon» were interviewed in three cities of the Valencian Community. After a stratifi ed sampling among college and noncollege students, a two-step cluster analysis was carried out for each sample with two aims: to identify different types of alcohol consumers in the practice of the «botellon» and to carry out a crossed validation of the results obtained. The variables included in the analysis were the following: gender, age group (university students: U; adolescent students: ES), performance of intensive episodes of consumption (yes/no), number of years practicing the «botellon» and grams of alcohol ingested. The results …
