New Measurements of the Beam Normal Spin Asymmetries at Large Backward Angles with Hydrogen and Deuterium Targets

International audience; New measurements of the beam normal single spin asymmetry in the electron elastic and quasielastic scattering on the proton and deuteron, respectively, at large backward angles and at ⟨Q2⟩=0.22  (GeV/c)2 and ⟨Q2⟩=0.35  ( GeV/c)2 are reported. The experimentally observed asymmetries are compared with the theoretical calculation of Pasquini and Vanderhaeghen [Phys. Rev. C 70, 045206 (2004).PRVCAN0556-281310.1103/PhysRevC.70.045206]. This study focuses on the importance of collaborative R&D attitudes of biotech firms in the capital structure determination. Specifically, we investigate the short term impact of R&D agreements on financial leverage and we analyze whether this relationship depends on alliances’ features and the type and characteristics of the partners involved. Our results suggest that agreements with established pharmaceutical incumbents are followed by a reduction in the level of debt, while collaborations with biotech firms do not play a significant role, at least in the short term. Under asymmetric information, entry-deterring strategies by an incumbent monopolist can consist of deviations from its static monopoly price through downward deviations termed downward limit pricing, or upward deviations termed upward limit pricing. We study collusion within groups in non-cooperative games. The primitives are the preferences of the players, their assignment to non-overlapping groups and the goals of the groups. Our notion of collusion is that a group coordinates the play of its members among different incentive compatible plans to best achieve its goals. Unfortunately, equilibria that meet this requirement need not exist. We instead introduce the weaker notion of collusion constrained equilibrium. We are interested in finding the best possible embedding constant in terms of the measure of the domain alone. We set up an optimal shape problem and we completely characterize the behavior of optimal domains.

Kerr Optical Frequency Combs With Multi-FSR Mode Spacing in Silica Microspheres

We experimentally demonstrate Kerr optical frequency combs (OFCs) with mode spacing of 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8 free spectral ranges (FSRs) corresponding to 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 2, 2.4, and 3.2 THz, respectively, in silica microspheres pumped by CW C-band lasers in the anomalous dispersion range. Experimental realizations are based on using standard telecom equipment and components such as SMF-28e fiber for producing microspheres and fiber tapers for pump coupling and OFC outcoupling. Numerical simulation is performed to support the experimental results and explain the observed spectral asymmetry in OFCs by the influence of the 3rd-order dispersion.
