Which Factors Modulate Letter Position Coding in Pre-literate Children?

One of the central landmarks of learning to read is the emergence of orthographic processing (i.e., the encoding of letter identity and letter order): it constitutes the necessary link between the low-level stages of visual processing and the higher-level processing of words. Regarding the processing of letter position, many experiments have shown worse performance in various tasks for the transposed-letter pair judge-JUDGE than for the orthographic control jupte-JUDGE. Importantly, 4-y.o. pre-literate children also show letter transposition effects in a same-different task: TZ-ZT is more error-prone than TZ-PH. Learning to live involves acquiring many skills, for which in some cases there is a natural predisposition, but which always require a "guided" exercise in real life contexts so that the person acquires the skills necessary to "live properly". The research was conducted with a group of 153 students from the Master of Science in Primary Education, who participated in a two-year training project during the academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22. This article describes whether and to what extent the students believe they have developed the four chosen life skills and which of the training methodologies adopted by the lecturers were most effective.

The article presents the results of studies aimed at evaluating the level of lexicological and lexical competence of middle school students, and the results of a study of school determinants of this competence assessed through surveys, interviews and in‑class observation. The level of lexicological competence was evaluated as good, whereas the textual examination revealed lexical competence to be lower and more varied. Przyjęto założenie, że egzaminom przysługuje funkcja systemotwórcza – profile zadań egzaminacyjnych stają się modelowymi przykładami praktyki edukacyjnej, mają wpływ na organizację procesu dydaktycznego oraz na strukturę efektów kształcenia. Change in body image among depressed adult outpatients after a dance movement therapy group treatment

Abstract This study reports on the body image of depressed psychiatric outpatients, and the impact thereon of a dance movement therapy (DMT) group. Body image is perceived as a tri-partite construct consisting of image-properties, body-self, and body memory. Depressed patients in an outpatient mental health service participated in a DMT group treatment consisting of twelve 90-min long sessions in groups of 4–7 patients. Patients (N = 18) responded to a structured Body Image Assessment (BIA) before and after the treatment. A meta-analysis of the relation between RAN and mathematics.

Several studies have shown that rapid automatized naming (RAN) is a significant predictor of mathematics, but the nature of their relationship remains elusive. Thus, the purpose of this meta-analysis was to estimate the size of their relationship and determine the conditions under which they correlate. We used a random-effects model analysis of data from 38 studies (33 unique samples, 151 correlations, 7,135 participants) to examine the size of the RAN–mathematics relationship and the role of different moderators (i.e., math measure and variable, type of RAN task, math age, study design, and sample characteristics).
