Rational Herding in Reward-Based Crowdfunding: An MTurk Experiment.

Crowdfunding is gaining popularity as a way of financing social sustainable initiatives. We performed a controlled economic experiment in MTurk by simulating a crowdfunding platform and developed a theoretical model that rationalizes herding behavior. The experiment was designed to test and quantify the causal effects of revealing specific information to prospective backers: (i) the number of early contributors already financing the project and (ii) positive opinions of other backers versus those of experts. The results show that early contributions to the campaign and positive opinions of peers act as a reinforcing signal to potential backers and affect backers&rsquo

The micro-macro link is a central issue of human movement sciences because it directly refers to coordination and scalability of movement behaviour at different levels of analysis in a complex system. Abstract University students with disabilities engage in physical activity to a lesser extent than their able-bodied peers, with women reporting less physical activity than men. The present study aimed to examine gender differences in theory-based predictors of physical activity in this population. Artykuł oscyluje wokół zagadnienia skargowości skazanych, głównie tej w wymiarze instrumentalnym. Stosując sondaż diagnostyczny, opracowano trzy narzędzia badawcze. Dzięki temu zgromadzono informacje na temat przedmiotu skarg oraz przyczyn ich tworzenia. Celem badań było wypracowanie optymalnych działań mogących przyczynić się do minimalizacji zjawiska tworzenia skarg o charakterze instrumentalnym. W ostatniej części zawarto egzemplifikacje dla praktyki penitencjarnej, wskazując kierunki pracy ze skazanymi, zwłaszcza tworzącymi skargi pozbawione wartości merytorycznej. Ponadto przedłożono prawidłowości mogące przyczynić się do wskazania niespójności przepisów prawa z praktyką penitencjarną.
Unfair play? Video games as exploitative monetized services: An examination of game patents from a consumer protection perspective

Video games as a consumer product have changed significantly with the advent of in-game purchasing systems (e.g., microtransactions, ‘loot boxes’). This review examines consumer protections related to in-game purchasing by anticipating some of the potential design strategies that might contribute to higher risk consumer behavior. Attention was directed towards the analysis of patents for potential in-game purchasing systems, with 13 identified on Google Patents. The design features were analysed in relation to the consumer rights and guarantees described in the terms of use agreements of the patent assignees.
