This paper provides an empirical insight into the perception and use of ambush marketing on the People's Republic of China public television network CCTV5 (the official Olympic broadcaster), by examining the commercials used by various corporations during its coverage of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. A five-point categorization is presented to distinguish between various methods of ambushing. We describe an operational procedure to build an integrated information system (IIS) for monitoring and evaluating the performance of public broadcasting corporations (PBC). The procedure grounds in a conceptual framework derived from evaluation models, and consists of two stages. The first stage is the selection, through expert judgment, of simple indicators that illustrate the most relevant aspects of the corporations. The second stage is the definition of a system of indicators related to each level of the hierarchy of objectives planned by the corporations. The system of indicators has two levels. Hidden Oscillations in Electromechanical Systems

In this paper an electromechanical system with two different types of motor is considered. It is shown that during the spin-up, the system with DC motor may experience unwanted vibration—the Sommerfeld effect. This is a well-known effect when the motor of electromechanical system gets stuck near the resonance zone instead of reaching its nominal power. The absence of this effect is demonstrated in the system with synchronous motor. Nowadays, there are many works devoted to the study of this effect in various systems. Here we discuss the Sommerfeld effect from the point of view of localization of the so-called hidden oscillations.

Electric field strength values calculated by wave propagation modeling were applied as an exposure metric in a case–control study conducted in Germany to investigate a possible association between radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) emitted from television and radio broadcast transmitters and the risk of childhood leukemia. To validate this approach it was examined at 850 measurement sites whether calculated RF-EMF are an improvement to an exposure proxy based on distance from the place of residence to a transmitter.
