Die Vierte Welt in Berlin: a minor art space in THE CAPITAL OF CREATIVITY
2019
Portraying an alternative theatre space in Berlin, called "Vierte Welt", this article reflects upon the recent changes in the 'spirit of Capitalism' (Boltansik / Chiapello) that has shaped the old and new German capital as an alledged contemporary Eden of creativity and artistic critique.

2014
2020
This contribution is the introduction to the volume "Pandemic in capitalism of the 21st century", PM edizioni, Varazze (SV), edited by Alessandra Ciattini and Marco A. Pirrone. This article describes the contents of this volume. In recent months much has been written and said about the pandemic, produced by coronavirus SARS-CoV2, which results in COVID 19 and which is causing deaths all over the world, affecting above all those social strata that, due to their own living conditions, do not know how to defend themselves. The book returns to the subject, examining the interactive play of the different factors that lie at the root of this dramatic social phenomenon and that constitutes yet ano…
The chariots of Pharaoh at the Red Sea The crises of capitalism and of environment. A modest proposal towards sustainability
2016
The present global situation recalls us the two walls in which the Red Sea had split to allow that Pharaoh follow the people beloved by God. On one wall stays the economic crisis, that is tout court the capitalist crisis, on the other wall there is the predicament of environment. Then, it is reasonable to wonder if the walls will tumble down with severe damages to all the characters, this time, of this representation; unless a “modest proposal”, of the kind that we will try to formulate in this paper, be intensively pursued. Several of the themes here gathered have already been object of reflection in some previous works. In this paper we collect and enrich those ideas, and put a special at…
2020
The article argues ?from the Deleuzian concepts of society of control, moulding and modulation and the Rosean theory on the economization and medicalization of life? that the expansion of the concept of health in terms of integral and subjective well-being is the effect of a socio-historical shift in the way we relate to this signifier, and therefore to our bodies and ourselves. We use this interpretative network to analyze the effects that the biopsychosocial health paradigm has had in the context of aesthetic surgery and fitness practice. As a result, we see that the expansion of the concept of health has extended the domain of medicine into the spheres of personal care and physical appea…
Towards a theory of transnational academic capitalism
2013
This article draws attention to the relative lack of theoretically and methodologically elaborated approaches to understand and explain the complex relations between transnationalization of higher education and globalization seen especially from the point of view of global capitalism. The main aim of this article is to contribute to the construction of a theory of transnational academic capitalism (TAC). A theory of TAC argues that those networks, practices and activities that are blurring the boundaries between higher education, markets and states are increasingly becoming transnational without supposing that this transformation implies that local and national levels are insignificant in s…
Dai beni comuni al comune. Diritto, Stato e storia
2016
This article – which examines the volume by Pierre Dardot and Christian Laval, Commun – intends to work out the meanings, including their historical background, which pertain to a crucial discursive field in today’s political debate: those of the terms common /commons. The goal, following Dardot and Laval multifold proposal, is to understand how to overcome the evident indeterminacy of a word such as commun. The critical analysis of the extremely complex, and frequently fuzzy, genealogies of common /commons is a fundamental step in this intellectual program, indeed a precondition for the elaboration of a convincing conceptual tool. This concept is interpreted, following the perspective outl…
