In this paper we present a first approach to the German modal particles and their equivalents in Catalan. The German modal particles are a word group described in the German linguistics with functional criteria which does not exist in any romance language: this is also the case with Catalan. The meaning of modal particles belongs to the pragmatic level and is related to the speaker’s attitudes, but modal particles show some other discursive properties as well. Firstly, German modal particles as a linguistic phenomenon will be described. Aquest article exposa, en primer lloc, les relacions entre l’escriptor sicilià Tomasi di Lampedusa i el mallorquí Llorenç Villalonga. L’anàlisi de les afinitats i les divergències estilístiques entre els dos autors té com a objectiu l’estudi descriptiu de la traducció catalana de la novel·la Il Gattopardo, a fi de destacar les estratègies adoptades pel traductor Villalonga i els canvis que suposen en comparació amb l’original. Aspectes formals de les preposicions en català

Studies on the prepositional category generally cover its syntactic and semantic aspects. Phonological aspects are usually reflected in a peripheral way. In this article we propose to study some of the phonic features of Catalan prepositions from the point of view of Cognitive Grammar, and try to establish to what extent these are exclusively phonological facts. Specifically, we shall study the atonicity of the most prototypical prepositions, the exceptional accentuation of prepositions, the so-called contractions of prepositions and articles, and the a/e and a/ad alternations in Northern Catalan and colloquial Valencian, respectively.

This paper summarizes articles and books about Catalan stylistics ans pragmatics. Variational research in catalan sociolinguistic describes standard, literary, and conversational forms. The paper explains the contents of these studies and distinguishes between oral and writing code. El contacte amb els aragonesos ha estat un condicionant del lèxic del català del País Valencià. Pretenem mostrar ací amb exemples concrets l’antiguitat d’aquesta influència. Partim del despullament d’un corpus textual format per documentació del s. XIII en llatí, en català, en aragonès i en espanyol. A partir de l’aportació de 1953 de Samuel Gili i Gaya sobre el mossàrab de Lleida, ha estat acceptat com un lloc comú de la filologia catalana que el romanç andalusí lleidatà coetani de la conquesta comtal (1149) tenia característiques afins al català nouvingut. Tant la poca consistència de la documentació aportada com les dades fornides pels historiadors rebaixen aquest lloc comú a mera hipòtesi de treball sobre la filiació d’una varietat lingüística amb tota probabilitat extinta abans del segle XII.
