In each of the title compounds, the anion shows evidence of extensive electronic delocalization. A combination of N—H⋯N and X—H⋯N hydrogen bonds links the ions in (I) into a ribbon of alternating centrosymmetric (18) and (26) rings, and those in (II) into simple (7) chains of alternating cations and anion with further cations pendent from the chain.

Application of ICP-MS for measuring soil metal cations from sequential extraction

2005

The present work is part of a collaboration between Palermo and Seville Universities to investigate the cations incorporated into calcite and its effect in the trace metal mobility in soils. The study area is located in the central part of Sicily. Calcite is usually greatly dispersed and has a major influence on the pH of soils and therefore on trace element behaviour. A great affinity for carbonates has been observed for a wide range of cations incorporated into calcite. in order to investigate the metal cations in soil carbonate, 1M MgCl2 was used to remove the exchangeable Ca. Sub-samples were treated with acid acetic 1M to quantify the total amount of Ca and metal cations in soil carbon…

Untersuchungen über den Einfluss verschiedener Kationen auf die ATP-Spaltung durch die Zytoplasmafraktion vom Plexus chorioideus des Rindes

1967

The cytoplasma fraction of the bovine choroid plexus epithelial cells was found to contain a considerable ATPase activity. The influence of Na+, K+, Li+, Rb+, Cs+, Co++, Mn++, Zn++ and Fe+++ on the activity of the Mg++-dependent enzyme has been studied. The monovalent cations do not influence the enzymic activity, whereas the effect of the bi- and trivalent cations is characterized by an inhibition of the ATPase.

5,5′-Bis-vanillin derivatives as discriminating sensors for trivalent cations

2015

[EN] Several bis-vanillin derivatives containing semicarbazone moieties have been prepared and used in discriminating trivalent cations. The prepared probes are readily obtained and they are usually highly crystalline. Depending on the ligand and the studied cations, quenching, enhancement or no changes in the fluorescence spectrum were observed. Using a series of the prepared ligands allows distinguishing between Fe3+, Cr3+ and Al3+. Detection limits and selectivity in front of divalent cations have been evaluated. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Benzyl ions from 1,1-(2,2′-dimethoxyphenyl)-substituted 2-methylpropanes under electron ionization

2006

The electron ionization (EI)-induced fragmentations of a series of 1,1-(2,2'-dimethoxyphenyl)-substituted 2-methylpropanes (1-20) in both 70 eV and mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy (MIKE) spectra have been investigated. The EI-MS spectra of these compounds are characterized by the presence of abundant benzyl ions. These ions result from competitive hydrogen migration from the 2- and 2'-methoxy groups on the carbenium center of the diphenylmethyl cations formed by benzylic cleavage of the molecular ions. The relative abundances of the benzyl ions arising from such competitive processes are discussed and rationalized. The steric effect of the 3- or 3'-substituents is the main discriminating f…

Redox-Responsive Host-Guest Chemistry of a Flexible Cage with Naphthalene Walls

2020

“Naphthocage”, a naphthalene-based organic cage, reveals very strong binding (up to 1010 M–1) to aromatic (di)cationic guests, i.e., the tetrathiafulvalene mono- and dication and methyl viologen. Intercalation of the guests between two naphthalene walls is mediated by C–H···O, C–H···π, and cation···π interactions. The guests can be switched into and out of the cage by redox processes with high binding selectivity. Oxidation of the flexible cage itself in the absence of a guest leads to a stable radical cation with the oxidized naphthalene intercalated between and stabilized by the other two. Encapsulated guest cations are released from the cavity upon cage oxidation, paving the way to futur…

A chalcone-based highly selective and sensitive chromofluorogenic probe for trivalent metal cations

2015

[EN] Anew chalcone-based probe for the chromofluorogenic sens-ing of trivalent (Al3 +,Fe3+,Cr3+,Ga3+,In3+and As3 +)overmono-and divalent cationsand anionsisreported. In the presence of trivalent metal cations, the probe was able to displayaremarkable color change from yellow to colorless that wasclearly visible to the naked eye. Also, the initial strongyellowemission was gradually quenched and substituted by aweaklyshifted band.

Mono‐ and Bis(imidazolidinium ethynyl) Cations and Reduction of the Latter To Give an Extended Bis‐1,4‐([3]Cumulene)‐p-carboquinoid System

2017

An extended π-system containing two [3]cumulene fragments separated by a p-carboquinoid and stabilized by two capping N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) has been prepared. Mono- and bis(imidazolidinium ethynyl) cations have also been synthesized from the reaction of an NHC with phenylethynyl bromide or 1,4-bis(bromoethynyl)benzene. Cyclic voltammetry coupled with synthetic and structural studies showed that the dication is readily reduced to a neutral, singlet bis-1,4-([3]cumulene)-p-carboquinoid as a result of the π-accepting properties of the capping NHCs. peerReviewed

Translocation of Cations During Sorption of Copper in the System Solution - Algae (Spirogyra sp.)/Translokacja Kationów Podczas Procesu Sorpcji Miedz…

2014

Zbadano kinetykę procesu sorpcji kationów miedzi w glonach Spirogyra sp. oraz towarzyszące mu procesy sorpcji kationów wodorowych i procesy uwalniania do roztworu kationów związanych w glonach: Na+, Mg2+, K+ i Ca2+.
