An In Vitro Experiment for Postmortem Vascular Permeation. The Passage of Morphine and Morphine Glucuronides Across a Vascular Wall
1997
A venous blood sample taken at autopsy cannot be considered to represent the antemortem blood concentration of a particular substance. Autolytic processes cause disintegration and increasing permeability of the physiological and anatomical barriers such as vascular walls and lead to changes in substance concentrations. In the present study, the experimental design represents an in vitro postmortem simulation of a drug substance crossing a venous wall. The postmortem behavior of morphine, morphine-3- and morphine-6-glucuronide was investigated. A Chien-Valia-diffusion chamber with a patch of inferior vena cava as diffusion barrier was used. For optimal simulation of postmortem events, vein s…

Projekt komputu armii litewskiej z 1703 r. wraz z podziałem na poszczególne chorągwie i regimenty
2017
W niniejszym artykule zostaje wprowadzone do obiegu naukowego nowe źródło do badań nad historią armii litewskiej w okresie wielkiej wojny północnej (1700–1721), którym jest projekt komputu z 1703 r. Znajduje się on w Bibliotece Kórnickiej Polskiej Akademii Nauk w rękopisie o sygnaturze 985. W inwentarzu rękopisów biblioteki widnieje natomiast jako komput z 1706 r. Trudno jednak ustalić faktyczną datę jego powstania. Możliwe jest jedynie oszacowanie pewnych cezur. Sporządzony został na pewno przed 27 listopada 1703 r. (wprowadzenie w życie postanowień rady senatu w Jaworowie o pozbawieniu urzędów Sapiehów). Natomiast prawdopodobnie powstał przed lub w trakcie sejmu lubelskiego (11 czerwca – …
« El Cubri s’en va en guerre… »
2011
2015
International audience; This chapter offers a case study of El hombre descuadernado (2009), a comic book adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s « The Horla » (1886) by Spanish writer Felipe Hernández Cava and Argentinian artist Sanyú. If one considers a good adaptation to be a free adaptation, i.e., one which betrays its source rather than reproduces it, then literary classics provide many opportunities for adaptations insomuch as they are open to multiple readings and to the specific concerns of various eras (in this case, a parallel is made between the figure of the Horla and Alzheimer’s disease). Thus, after exploring Cava’s reasons for adapting the novella with its motifs of disease, madness…

Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava Significance in Prenatal Diagnosis—Case Series
2022
The persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a congenital heart anomaly reported in 0.3–0.5% of the general population and can be associated with congenital heart diseases in up to 8% of cases. Prenatal identification of PLSVC is important to prompt an extended cardiac and extracardiac fetal examination. We retrospectively reevaluated anomaly scans performed in our unit in a 2-year interval according to the national guidelines to evaluate the incidence of PLSVC and its association with prenatal morbidity. In our population, the incidence of PLSVC was 0.31%, and we found a low association with cardiac and extracardiac anomalies. The standard sections (three-vessel and trachea view, four…
