Large intraoral spindle cell lipoma

Lipomas are relatively common benign neoplasms composed by mature fat cells. Apart from conventional lipomas, several other subtypes have been described in the oral cavity, including fibrolipoma, myxoid lipoma, angiolipoma, myolipoma, chondrolipoma, osteolipoma and spindle cell lipoma (SCL). Intraoral SCL is rare, representing from 1.4% to 9.8% of all intraoral lipomas. The aim of the present study is to report a case of a large intraoral SCL of the buccal mucosa affecting a 46-year-old male, calling attention to its clinical and histological features and to its successfull surgical conservative management. Complex and Differential Cytokeratin Profiles in Thymomas and Correlation with Normal Thymus

Cytokeratins (CKs) are characterized by highly diverse expression patterns and thus serve as potent epithelial differentiation markers. We have studied 31 cases of thymomas (12 cortical, 2 predominantly cortical, 5 mixed, and 9 medullary type thymomas as well as 3 well-differentiated thymic carcinomas) and, for comparison, 15 normal thymi, for the presence of different CK polypeptides. Immunohistochemistry was performed on cryostat sections using the indirect immunoperoxidase method.

RET (REarranged during Transfection) proto-oncogene variants are essential for the development of familial and sporadic forms of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). The most frequent variants are usually located in exons 10, 11, and 13 through 16 of the RET gene. We report two cases of apparently sporadic MTC associated with the variant in exon 2 of RET gene. This case report added Myiasis is a parasitic disease that affects humans and other vertebrates. A rare condition in humans, myiasis is a worldwide phenomenon, with a higher incidence being observed in tropical and subtropical regions. Oral myiasis is rarely observed in children, is uncommon in the oral cavity, more specifically periodontal tissue. This uncommon condition is more prevalent in tropical and subtropical American and others country where low socioeconomic conditions, residence in rural areas, mental deficiency and precarious hygiene conditions.
