Understanding The Mediating Role of Quality of Work Life on the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors.

2016

Organizational citizenship behaviors are not directly rewarded by organizations. However, they seem to contribute to excellent performance at work. The aim of this study is to test quality of working life’s (QoWL) mediating role in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). 203 French adults working regularly in teams completed validated self-report measures corresponding to each construct. The collected data showed that in the studied sample, a high quality of working life was associated with Sportsmanship behaviors. However, mediation was not observed for the other OCB subscales: Altruism, Helping, or Civic virtues. These behaviors…

The planning research agenda: plural cities, equity and rights of citizenship

2010

Today it is self-evident that across the world we all -- more or less -- live in plural cities. A number of factors connected to development and underdevelopment processes as well as to the phenomena of social polarisation on a world scale are seen to be connected to this transformation. As a consequence, new, unexpected geographies are being created and old phenomena are taking new forms and dimensions. In this new geography of exclusion, fostered by the mechanisms of the new capitalist system and the crisis of the welfare state, inequality in cities is spreading significantly. What are the objectives and issues of planning research in these new urban circumstances? How is it possible to d…

Informal Learning for Citizenship Building in Shared Struggles for Right: Cases of Political Solidarity Between Colombian and Spanish Organisations

2015

[EN]: Dominant discourses and practices in international cooperation have been characterised by depoliticisation and unequal power relationships. However, a number of more transformative experiences of cooperation also exist, where joint work between Northern and Southern social organisations is linked with a more political perspective. These kinds of experiences can be considered processes of informal learning in social action: through shared actions, strategies and frameworks and through interaction between organisations, institutions and the grassroots, informal and multidimensional learning processes occur in the people and organisations engaged. The study approaches four cases of netwo…

Riflessività e narrazione autobiografica per una cittadinanza digitale.

2019

Within nowadays information and knowledge society, training paths are exposed to changes due to technological development. These technological hints offer a plurality of communicative tools that endlessly extend the possibility of narrating, talking about oneself, telling oneself and being recognized. In this regard, the present paper deals with Digital Storytelling, with images, music, narration and voice woven together, offering new tools to revisit the narration, intertwining multimedia, interactivity and the web, with traditional practices. All this leads us to consider digital storytelling as a sort of modern version of the ancient art of storytelling (Rule, 2010). The educational chal…

El desarrollo humano sostenible: un compromiso educativo

2017

Sustainable Human Development (hereafter SHD) is taking shape as a proposal for progress in the face of a crisis in civilization so complex and far-reaching that it is considered quite difficult to solve. The aim of this article is to offer a reasoned justification of the evolution of the concept of development and of the need for an educational commitment to be able to make progress towards it. Although it is still polemical and the object of criticism, SHD has become consolidated as a strongly ethical proposal to lead the change in the course of development, transversally affecting its multiple dimensions and advocating interdisciplinary and intercultural cooperation and dialogue. The art…

The BioS4YOU project: how Science Education can enhance student capacity to be participatory citizens in a transforming world

Recent studies evidence the need to engage students at all levels in Science to boost the supply of a skilled scientific workforce and knowledgeable citizenry. The “Bio-Inspired STEM topics for engaging young generations” (BioS4YOU) project, funded by the European Union within the Erasmus+ KA2 Innovation program, aims to bridge the gap between the STEM national curricula (which mostly include basic contents of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and the needs of Z-generation students, apathetic/uninterested to basic themes, but enthusiastic in issues related to environmental, social, and health concerns. The main goal of the BioS4You project is to engage European young learne…
