Information and communication are at the core of the intelligent city of tomorrow, and the key components of a smart city cannot prescind from data exchanges and interconnectedness. In order to achieve the objectives of Smart Cities, public administrations need to take measures to regulate mobility, which undoubtedly requires a high level of information and sensorization. Smart city. Four approaches to the concept of understanding

The paper analyzes the rhetoric of the smart city (SC) concept in order to recognize, categorize, and describe different perspectives of understanding the notion. Four approaches to the SC concept were isolated: three affirmative, and one rejecting. The approaches present a different understanding of the SC and indicate different elements creating urban ‘smartness.’ Despite differences, there is one common goal in every affirmative approach: to improve the quality of urban life. It is achieved through activities covering five dimensions distinguished within affirmative approaches. Together they can serve, i.e.,as a framework for SC case study analyses.

Multi-agent Systems for Estimating Missing Information in Smart Cities

International audience; Smart cities aim at improving the quality of life of citizens. To do this, numerous ad-hoc sensors need to be deployed in a smart city to monitor the environmental state. Even if nowadays sensors are becoming more and more cheap their installation and maintenance costs increase rapidly with their number. This paper makes an inventory of the dimensions required for designing an intelligent system to support smart city initiatives. Then we propose a multi-agent based solution that uses a limited number of sensors to estimate at runtime missing information in smart cities using a limited number of sensors.

Background: Protein supplements are extensively used among commercial gym users and athletes. Although demographic information amongst such consumption has been poorly investigated. The aim of this study is to compare protein supplement consumption in commercial gym users, both from the city centre and the suburbs of Palermo, Italy.
