The Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union grants subsidies for olive production. Areas of intensified olive farming will be of major importance for the increasing demand for oil production of the next decades, and countries with a high ratio of intensively and super-intensively managed olive groves will be more competitive than others, since they are able to reduce production costs. Let f:U⊂R2→R3 be a representative of a finitely determined map germ f:(R2,0)→(R3,0). Consider the curve obtained as the intersection of the image of the mapping f with a sufficiently small sphere Sϵ2 centered at the origin in R3, call this curve the associated doodle of the map germ f. For a large class of map germs the associated doodle has many transversal self-intersections. The topological classification of such map germs is considered from the point of view of the associated doodles.

The archeological site of the Latomia del Paradiso (Syracuse) is endangered by severe instability phenomena due to the shape of walls and underground excava-tion related with the poor mechanical characteristics of the weathered and wet rock. The Latomiae (origin: Greek latomia, from laas, las stone plus –tomia tomy ) del Paradiso in Syracuse are Magna Graecia rock quarries, located in the coastal areas of Southern Italy and internationally renowned for their impressive environment. Boudinage classification: end-member boudin types and modified boudin structures

In monoclinic shear zones, there are only three ways a layer can be boudinaged, leading to three kinematic classes of boudinage. These are (1) symmetrically without slip on the inter-boudin surface (no-slip boudinage), and two classes with asymmetrical slip on the inter-boudin surface: slip being either (2) synthetic (S-slip boudinage) or (3) antithetic (A-slip boudinage) with respect to bulk shear sense. In S-slip boudinage, the boudins rotate antithetically, and in antithetic slip boudinage they rotate synthetically with respect to shear sense.
