Cloud top altitude retrieved from Lidar measurements during ACLOUD at 1 second resolution

2021

During the ACLOUD aircraft campaign (23.5.2017 - 26.6.2017) the AMALi Lidar was installed mostly nadir pointing. This dataset contains the cloud top altitude from those measurements (altitudes with a strong signal increase) as well as a cloud mask, derived from the optical depth of the column at 1 second resolution. The majority of the data was collected northwest of the Svalbard archipelago. More details on the campaign can be found in Wendisch 2018 and Ehrlich 2019 and here (https://home.uni-leipzig.de/~ehrlich/ACLOUD_wiki_doku). Please check the data documentation (https://download.pangaea.de/reference/108729/attachments/readme_documentation_AMALi_cloudtop.pdf) before using this dataset.

Bollard Segmentation and Position Estimation From Lidar Point Cloud for Autonomous Mooring

2022

This article presents a computer-aided object detection and localization method from lidar 3-D point cloud data. This topic of interest is in the framework of autonomous mooring, where the ship is tied to the rigid structure on-shore (bollard) for autonomous maritime navigation. Using shape and features priors, unlike matching the whole object template to the experimental 3-D point cloud representation of the scene, two customized algorithms: 1) 3-D feature matching (3-DFM) and 2) mixed feature-correspondence matching (MFCM) are presented. The proposed algorithms discriminate and extract the 3-D points corresponding to the noncooperative bollard's surface from the background, thus capable o…

Genetic algorithms for 3d reconstruction with supershapes

2009

Supershape model is a recent primitive that represents numerous 3D shapes with several symmetry axes. The main interest of this model is its capability to reconstruct more complex shape than superquadric model with only one implicit equation. In this paper we propose a genetic algorithms to re-construct a point cloud using those primitives. We used the pseudo-Euclidean distance to introduce a threshold to handle real data imperfection and speed up the process. Simulations using our proposed fitness functions and a fitness function based on inside-outside function show that our fitness function based on the pseudo-Euclidean distance performs better.

Sudrabaino mākoņu novērojumi Latvijā 1957.-1983.gadā: žurnālu saturs un digitalizēšanas metodika

2022

--//-- Mesospheric Cloud observation logs contain notes made by observers in the form of longer texts or graphic sketches. They are not included in the log files, as it would make them difficult to see and use. This volume contains notes on the entire observation period 1957-1983. They are arranged by observation sites in chronological order.

Dust Production and Particle Acceleration in Supernova 1987A Revealed with ALMA

2013

Supernova (SN) explosions are crucial engines driving the evolution of galaxies by shock heating gas, increasing the metallicity, creating dust, and accelerating energetic particles. In 2012 we used the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array to observe SN 1987A, one of the best-observed supernovae since the invention of the telescope. We present spatially resolved images at 450um, 870um, 1.4mm, and 2.8mm, an important transition wavelength range. Longer wavelength emission is dominated by synchrotron radiation from shock-accelerated particles, shorter wavelengths by emission from the largest mass of dust measured in a supernova remnant (>0.2Msun). For the first time we show unambig…

Mākoņpakalpojumu sniedzēju salīdzinājums “TIA” apdrošināšanas sistēmai

2021
