Hibrīdmākoņa drošība

2017

Informācijas tehnoloģiju pakalpojumi nepārtraukti attīstās un aizvien vairāk uzņēmumu mūsdienās sāk pārvietot savus IT resursus – serverus, lietotnes, datubāzes u.c. – uz mākoņa infrastruktūru. Mākoņrisinājumiem ir ļoti daudz priekšrocību, piemēram, elastība, augsta mērogojamība, pieejamība. Darba gaitā tiks salīdzināti un pētīti divu populārāko mākoņskaitļošanas platformu – Microsoft Azure un Amazon Web Services – standarta risinājumi. Tiks apskatītas drošības prasības un novērtētas to ieviešanas iespējas, izveidojot dažas tipiska uzņēmuma IT infrastruktūras komponentes, kas vienlaicīgi darbojas vairākās mākoņskaitļošanas platformās. Pēc tam dažādos griezumos tiks veikti veiktspējas testi.

In Situ, Airborne Instrumentation: Addressing and Solving Measurement Problems in Ice Clouds

2012

The workshop on in situ airborne instrumentation: addressing and solving measurement problems in ice clouds, June 25-27, 2010, Oregon, aimed to identify unresolved questions concerning ice formation and evolution in ice clouds, assess the current state of instrumentation that can address these problems, introduce emerging technology that may overcome current measurement issues, and recommend future courses of action to improve our understanding of ice cloud microphysical. Eleven presentations were made covering measurement challenges associated measuring the composition and concentration of all the modes of ice nuclei (IN), measuring the morphology, mass, surface, and optical properties of …

Clinical heterogeneity in infantile galactosialidosis

1987

A new case of infantile galactosialidosis is presented. The condition was diagnosed when the patient was 4 months of age and she died at 20 months. She exhibited some of the symptoms of classical infantile galactosialidosis but no corneal clouding, cherry-red macular spot or limitation of joint mobility. Sonographic examination showed large kidneys and thickened cardiac septa, two symptoms as yet undescribed in this disorder. Urinary oligosaccharide analysis gave grossly pathological results and subsequent fibroblast enzyme analysis showed a deficiency of alpha-neuraminidase and beta-galactosidase. The patient's clinical features are compared with the few cases so far described in the liter…

Electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon in a relativistic quark pair creation model

2001

We study the effects of the | qqq q\bar{q} > component of the hadronic wave function on the description of the electromagnetic structure of the nucleon. Starting with a qqq baryonic wave function which describes the baryonic and mesonic low energy spectrum, the extra q\bar{q} pair is generated through a relativistic version of the 3P_0 model. It is shown that this model leads to a renormalization of the quark mass that allows one to construct a conserved electromagnetic current. We conclude that these dynamical relativistic corrections play an important role in reproducing the Q2 dependence of the electromagnetic form factors at low Q^2.

In situ observations of new particle formation in the tropical upper troposphere: the role of clouds and the nucleation mechanism

2011

New particle formation (NPF), which generates nucleation mode aerosol, was observed in the tropical Upper Troposphere (UT) and Tropical Tropopause Layer (TTL) by in situ airborne measurements over South America (January–March 2005), Australia (November–December 2005), West Africa (August 2006) and Central America (2004–2007). Particularly intense NPF was found at the bottom of the TTL. Measurements with a set of condensation particle counters (CPCs) with different <i>d</i>p50 (50% lower size detection efficiency diameter or "cut-off diameter") were conducted on board the M-55 <i>Geophysica</i> in the altitude range of 12.0–20.5 km and on board …

The extinction law in high redshift galaxies

2004

We estimate the dust extinction laws in two intermediate redshift galaxies. The dust in the lens galaxy of LBQS1009-0252, which has an estimated lens redshift of zl~0.88, appears to be similar to that of the SMC with no significant feature at 2175 A. Only if the lens galaxy is at a redshift of zl~0.3, completely inconsistent with the galaxy colors, luminosity or location on the fundamental plane, can the data be fit with a normal Galactic extinction curve. The dust in the zl=0.68 lens galaxy for B0218+357, whose reddened image lies behind a molecular cloud, requires a very flat ultraviolet extinction curve with (formally) R(V)=12 +- 2. Both lens systems seem to have unusual extinction curve…

Scalability of GPU-Processed 3D Distance Maps for Industrial Environments

2018

This paper contains a benchmark analysis of the open source library GPU-Voxels together with the Robot Operating System (ROS) in large-scale industrial robotics environment. Six sensor nodes with embedded computing generate real-time point cloud data as ROS topics. The overall data from all sensor nodes is processed by a combination of CPU and GPU on a central ROS node. Experimental results demonstrate that the system is able to handle frame rates of 10 and 20 Hz with voxel sizes of 4, 6, 8 and 12 cm without saturation of the CPU or the GPU used by the GPU-Voxels library. The results in this paper show that ROS, in combination with GPU-Voxels, can be used as a viable solution for real-time …

The ACRIDICON-CHUVA campaign: Studying tropical deep convective clouds and precipitation over Amazonia using the new German research aircraft HALO

2016

Abstract Between 1 September and 4 October 2014, a combined airborne and ground-based measurement campaign was conducted to study tropical deep convective clouds over the Brazilian Amazon rain forest. The new German research aircraft, High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft (HALO), a modified Gulfstream G550, and extensive ground-based instrumentation were deployed in and near Manaus (State of Amazonas). The campaign was part of the German–Brazilian Aerosol, Cloud, Precipitation, and Radiation Interactions and Dynamics of Convective Cloud Systems–Cloud Processes of the Main Precipitation Systems in Brazil: A Contribution to Cloud Resolving Modeling and to the GPM (Global Precipitatio…

On the Dependence of Cirrus Parametrizations on the Cloud Origin

2019

<p>Particle size distributions (PSDs) for cirrus clouds are important for both climate models as well as many remote sensing retrieval methods. Therefore, PSD parametrizations are required. This study presents parametrizations of Arctic cirrus PSDs. The dataset used for this purpose originates from balloon-borne measurements carried out during winter above Kiruna (Sweden), i.e. north of the Arctic circle. The observations are sorted into two types of cirrus cloud origin, either in-situ or liquid. The cloud origin describes the formation pathway of the ice particles. At temperatures below −38 °C, ice particles form in-situ from solution or ice nuclea…
