Wireless Power Transfer System Design for E-bikes Application

2019

The present work presents an analysis of Inductive Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) Systems behaviour applied to electrical bikes. In particular, the study has focused on the design of the coupled coils of this system. In the first part of the work, the theoretical aspects of the wireless power system are handled. In the second part of the work, the inductive features of the coupled windings are analyzed. In order to perform this process, the Ansys Maxwell software has been used, performing 3D simulations. To conclude, the results of the simulations are compared.

FIB-FESEM and EMPA results on Antoninianus silver coins for manufacturing and corrosion processes

2018

[EN] A set of ancient Antoninianus silver coins, dating back between 249 and 274¿A.D. and minted in Rome, Galliae, Orient and Ticinum, have been characterized. We use, for the first time, a combination of nano-invasive (focused ion beam-field emission scanning electron microscopy-X-ray microanalysis (FIB-FESEM-EDX), voltammetry of microparticles (VIMP)) and destructive techniques (scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX) and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA)) along with non-invasive, i.e., micro-Raman spectroscopy. The results revealed that, contrary to the extended belief, a complex Ag-Cu-Pb-Sn alloy was used. The use of alloys was common in the flourishing years of the Roman Empire. In th…

Coupled fixed point results in cone metric spaces for -compatible mappings

2011

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of -compatible mappings, b-coupled coincidence point and b-common coupled fixed point for mappings F, G : X × X → X, where (X, d) is a cone metric space. We establish b-coupled coincidence and b-common coupled fixed point theorems in such spaces. The presented theorems generalize and extend several well-known comparable results in the literature, in particular the recent results of Abbas et al. [Appl. Math. Comput. 217, 195-202 (2010)]. Some examples are given to illustrate our obtained results. An application to the study of existence of solutions for a system of non-linear integral equations is also considered. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classificati…

Isopodes Aselloïdes stygobies d’Espagne récoltés par J. Notenboom et I. Meijers, III — Le genre Proasellus: A — Espèces oculées ou microphtalmes

1992

Samples collected in underground waters of Spain by Ine Meijers and Jos Notenboom demonstrated the presence of some oculated asellids previously known: Proasellus coiffaiti, P. coxalis, and P. meridianus, and also four new stygophilous species, more or less depigmented, with different stages of regression of the ocular system: P. beticus n. sp., P. ortizi n. sp., P. aragonensis n. sp., and P. ebrensis n. sp. These forms represent relict populations of ancient epigean species. The anophthalmous species of the Aquitanian Basin, Pyrenees, and Iberian Peninsula are more closely related to P. beticus and P. ortizi than to the Recent epigean species P. coxalis and P. meridianus.

Initial Coin Offering (ICO) as a Fundraising Strategy : A Multiple Case Study on Success Factors

2019

Cryptocurrencies and Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) are some of the more prominent examples of currently used blockchain technology applications. Especially software startups have leveraged ICOs to gain funding early on in their lifecycles, going on to develop and create new blockchain based applications. Recently, larger companies such as Facebook have also begun to show interest in cryptocurrency, although thus far not for funding purposes in the form of ICOs. In this paper, we investigate factors that positively affect the abilities of companies to meet their fundraising goals via ICOs. We first identify a set of factors from extant literature and then seek to further confirm the effect of…

Safety Related Behaviors and Law Adherence of Shared E-Scooter Riders in Germany

2021

Shared e-scooters, whose supply and coverage keeps increasing in many cities around the globe, are rapidly changing mobility in urban road environments. As rising injury rates have been observed alongside this new form of mobility, researchers are investigating potential factors that relate to safe/unsafe e-scooter use. In Germany, e-scooter sharing platforms were only recently permitted in the middle of 2019, and their number has increased steadily since then. The aim of this study was to assess key factors that relate to their safe use, through a direct observation of e-scooters conducted at three observation sites around Berlin. Helmet use, dual use, type of infrastructure use, and trave…

Conformational analysis of α,β-poly(N-hydroxyethyl)-dl-aspartamide (PHEA) and α,β-polyasparthydrazide (PAHy) polymers in aqueous solution

1998

Abstract α,β-Poly(N-hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide (PHEA) and α,β-polyasparthydrazide (PAHy) are synthetic polymers previously studied for biomedical applications. We report here the results of a small-angle X-ray scattering analysis carried out on these two macromolecules in aqueous solution. The data obtained indicate that the two polymers assume remarkably different conformations in aqueous solution, although the backbone is supposed to be the same for the two chains. PHEA can be represented by a random coil conformation, whereas PAHy can be described in terms of an elliptical cylinder characterized by an almost planar structural arrangement with the backbone refolded on itself in a fash…

Solution Properties and Potential Biological Applications of Zwitterionic Poly(ε-N-methacryloyl-l-lysine)

2013

Poly(e-N-methacryloyl-l-lysine) (PMALys) was synthesized by free radical polymerization yielding a zwitterionic polymer with Mw = 721 000 g mol–1. The polymer dissolves in pure water as well as in aqueous salt solution up to 5 M NaClO4 and over wide range of pH values (1.3 ≤ pH ≤ 12.7) as single chains without any sign for aggregate formation. The zwitterionic polymer shows an expanded random coil structure at and close to isoelectric conditions and further expands upon addition of acid and base, respectively. The polymer fulfills four major prerequisites for a promising nano carrier in potential biomedical applications: (1) It is biocompatible, indicated by a low cytotoxicity. (2) It does …
