A General Design Procedure for Symmetrical Windings of Electrical Machines

2018

Winding design methods have been a subject of research for many years of the past century. Many methods have been developed, each one characterized by some advantages and some drawbacks. Nowadays, the star of slots is the most widespread design tool for electrical machine windings. In this context, this paper presents a simple and effective procedure to determine the distribution of the EMF stars and of the winding configuration in all possible typologies of electrical machines equipped with symmetrical windings. Moreover, this procedure can also be easily implemented in a computer program in order to perform automated winding designs for rotating electrical machines. Several examples are p…

A Comparison of Special Bonding Techniques for Transmission and Distribution Cables

2020

In this paper, a review of the existing special bonding techniques for medium voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) cables is presented. Special bonding techniques have the purpose of reducing sheath currents, thereby limiting copper losses and the reduction of the ampacity of cables. The authors present a literature review to identify various bonding techniques and how these have evolved over the years thanks to new technologies. Simulations of the most used techniques have been performed in Matlab/Simulink, to compare their strengths and drawbacks.

Structure of diblock copolymers in supercritical carbon dioxide and critical micellization pressure

1999

This paper reports a small angle neutron scattering investigation of micelle formation by fluorocarbon-hydrocarbon block copolymers in supercritical ${\mathrm{CO}}_{2}{(\mathrm{s}\mathrm{c}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{C}\mathrm{O}}_{2})$ at 65 \ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}C. A sharp unimer-micelle transition is obtained due to the tuning of the solvating ability of ${\mathrm{s}\mathrm{c}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{C}\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ by profiling pressure, so that the block copolymer, in a semidilute solution, finds ${\mathrm{s}\mathrm{c}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{C}\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ a good solvent at high pressure and a poor solvent at low pressure. At high pressure the copolymer is in a monomeric state…

Magnetic Field and Short-Circuit Reactance Calculation of the 3-Phase Transformer with Symmetrical Amorphous Core

2006

Magnetically symmetric, 3- phase transformer has been analysed. For the two variants of the windings, the calculation results have been compared with the measured ones. Magnetic flux density components were calculated in and out of the core. The flux distribution and short-circuit reactance have been verified experimentally and a good agreement has been obtained.

$varphi$-pairs and common fixed points in cone metric spaces

2008

In this paper we introduce a contractive condition, called $\varphi \textrm{-}pair$, for two mappings in the framework of cone metric spaces and we prove a theorem which assures existence and uniqueness of common fixed points for $\varphi \textrm{-}pairs$. Also we obtain a result on points of coincidence. These results extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature.

Common fixed points in cone metric spaces for CJM-pairs

2011

Abstract In this paper we introduce some contractive conditions of Meir–Keeler type for two mappings, called f - M K -pair mappings and f - C J M -pair (from Ciric, Jachymski, and Matkowski) mappings, in the framework of regular cone metric spaces and we prove theorems which guarantee the existence and uniqueness of common fixed points. We give also a fixed point result for a multivalued mapping that satisfies a contractive condition of Meir–Keeler type. These results extend and generalize some recent results from the literature. To conclude the paper, we extend our main result to non-regular cone metric spaces by using the scalarization method of Du.

A General Mathematical Formulation for Winding Layout Arrangement of Electrical Machines

2018

Winding design methods have been a subject of research for many years of the past century. Many methods have been developed, each one characterized by some advantages and drawbacks. Nowadays, the star of slots is the most widespread design tool for electrical machine windings. In this context, this paper presents a simple and effective procedure to determine the distribution of the slot EMFs over the phases and of the winding configuration in all possible typologies of electrical machines equipped with symmetrical windings. The result of this procedure gives a Winding Distribution Table (WDT), which can be used to define coils and coil groups connections and also to simply implement winding…

Reliable Propagation of Magnetic Domain Walls in Cross Structures for Advanced Multiturn Sensors

2017

[EN] We develop and analyze an advanced concept for a domain-wall-based sensing of rotations. Moving domain walls in n closed loops with n - 1 intersecting convolutions by rotating fields, we are able to sense n rotations. By combining loops with coprime numbers of rotations, we create a sensor system allowing for the total counting of millions of turns of a rotating applied magnetic field. We analyze the operation of the sensor and identify the intersecting cross structures as the critical component for reliable operation. Specifically, depending on the orientation of the applied field angle with the magnetization in the branches of the cross, a domain wall is found to propagate in an unwa…

Analysis, design, and evaluation of a high frequency inductor to reduce manufacturing cost, and improve the efficiency of a PV inverter

2013

Photovoltaic inverters are the major functional units of the photovoltaic systems. Therefore, efficiency and cost are vitally important in the design, and operation of the PV system. Magnetic components are the bulkiest component and highly affect the efficiency of the galvanically isolated PV inverter and design of such component generally involves a compromise between the reduction of core loss at the expense of increased winding loss or vice versa. The loss characteristics of the magnetic material itself present a fundamental limitation on core loss reduction, implying that the intrinsic reduction of core loss density depends on magnetic material improvements. Hence, the essential tradeo…
