Between 1860 and 1950 Italian architecture had the task of building the modern image of a young nation. Politics asked to architects to convey, through their work, identity messages to the collectivity. This process was particularly present during the period of fascism (1922- 1943), at the disposal of the government of Benito Mussolini. Through strong messages deeply rooted to the ancient Roman tradition, fascism sought to restore a national identity that would guarantee the duration of the regime. The fundamental elements on which constituted this identity were the memorial monuments, places where the mass of the people feels the need to recognize each other to express the cult of the home…

L’analisi morfologica indica usi e ruoli attraverso ventagli di possibilità operative, aggiornabili entro margini sufficientemente definiti, ma non ferrei e univocamente predeterminati: questo pone i suoi portati strategici e procedurali in una dimensione atemporale, praticabile oggi come ieri, una dimensione da inverare nel tempo che c’è, attraverso un’architettura consapevole del proprio portato tecnico e linguistico, delle tecnologie, dei materiali, di tutte quelle acquisizioni che la rendono viva e utile alla città.
Ruolo della morfologia nel processo epistemologico della città tra contesti, sistemi e iconologia

Nel formulare un “punto di vista” sul tema centrale della morfologia “strutturale” dell’architettura e della città, proverò a sviluppare delle riflessioni di ordine epistemico comprese, talvolta, tra logiche analitiche semantiche e interpretazioni critico-relazionali1. Un iniziale approccio teorico costituto da quelle forme che Foucault (1969) avrebbe definito “dispositivi” e che svolgono il ruolo di operatori analitici e di principi progettuali. The scientific committee of the “OC Summer School” inviting the participants to design a spread museum of agriculture in Piacenza, between urban and rural areas, provided an opportunity to reasoning about some dichotomies. Hence, in this text, the project processed in the three weeks of the workshop more than a solution will be consider as a spark that feed a narration between some simultaneous cultural worlds of the architecture: town and museum, inside and outside, private and public, rural and urban.

The Po River is a living organism that breathes: it inhales and swells; it exhales and releases its energy. Between two extreme phases of overflow and shallows, there are endless variations. In Piacenza, at the riverside, hydrometric instruments also took size and shape of a special building in reinforced concrete crowned by conical elements. When the water level rises, it floods the earth gradually; it deletes some marks lapping, and then reveals other things.
