Physically-Based Approach to the Mechanics of Strong Non-Local Linear Elasticity Theory

In this paper the physically-based approach to non-local elasticity theory is introduced. It is formulated by reverting the continuum to an ensemble of interacting volume elements. Interactions between adjacent elements are classical contact forces while long-range interactions between non-adjacent elements are modelled as distance-decaying central body forces. The latter are proportional to the relative displacements rather than to the strain field as in the Eringen model and subsequent developments. The size-consistent self-consistent matrix dressing method has been applied on an open-shell single-configuration reference state. Once the reference state is converged, several low-lying roots can be obtained for the dressed configuration interaction (CI) matrices of appropriate symmetry. The CI matrices were built with a complete-active-space singles and doubles CI method in order to deal properly with multiconfiguration excited states. The vertical ionization and ionization–excitation transitions are obtained from the difference to the closed shell ground-state energy of the neutral molecule. Parameter Estimation for α-Fractional Bridges

Let α, T > 0. We study the asymptotic properties of a least squares estimator for the parameter α of a fractional bridge defined as \(\mathrm{d}X_{t} = -\alpha \, \frac{X_{t}} {T-t}\,\mathrm{d}t + \mathrm{d}B_{t}\), 0 ≤ t \frac{1} {2}\). Depending on the value of α, we prove that we may have strong consistency or not as t → T. When we have consistency, we obtain the rate of this convergence as well. Also, we compare our results to the (known) case where B is replaced by a standard Brownian motion W.
Factorial analysis and psychometric properties of the revised Valencia scale of attitudes and beliefs towards hypnosis-client version

Psychometric properties and factorial structure of the Revised Valencia Scale of Attitudes and Beliefs toward Hypnosis – Client Version using a Portuguese sample are presented. Exploratory factor analysis on a Portuguese population of undergraduate college students (N = 444) yielded 8 factors: ‘Interest/Liking’, ‘Memory/Magic’, ‘Help’, ‘Control’, ‘Cooperation’, ‘Marginal’, ‘Fear’ and ‘Automaton’. The overall 8-factor structure is similar to the one found in the therapist version of the scale, and as in the therapist version, each factor of the client version showed good internal consistency and reliability. Counting by Statistics on Search Trees: Application to Constraint Satisfaction Problems

In 1975, Knuth proposed a simple statistical method for investigating search trees. We use this technique for estimating the number of solutions of constraint satisfaction problem CSP and boolean satisfiability problem SAT instances. We show that, depending on domain reductions, tree-based estimates have a lower variance than estimates based on uniform sampling from the search space. Nevertheless, because the variance remains extremely high in the general case, a confidence interval cannot be derived, but a lower bound of the number of solutions. These results are confirmed by many experiments.

Successful resilience is a variable often related to an optimal ag-ing process. However, literature is rather limited when dealing with assess-ment instruments for the elderly in the Spanish language. The objective of this work is to validate the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (Sinclair & Wallston, 2004), a four item likert scale, in the Spanish elderly. The internally contracted multireference coupled cluster (icMRCC) method allows a highly accurate description of both static and dynamic correlation with a computational scaling similar to single reference coupled cluster theory. The authors show that the method can lose its orbital invariance and size consistency when no special care is taken in the elimination of redundant excitations. Using the BeH(2) model system, four schemes are compared which differ in their treatment of linear dependencies between excitations of different rank (such as between singles and doubles). The purpose of this study was twofold: (a) to contrast the prominent theoretical explanations of the rapid automatized naming (RAN)-reading relationship across languages varying in orthographic consistency (Chinese, English, and Finnish) and (b) to examine whether the same accounts can explain the RAN-spelling relationship. The aim of this work is to examine the pentafactorial validity of the AF5 Self-Concept Questionnaire in Spanish and Chilean young adults. From the responses of a total of 4,383 young adults aged 17 to 22 years (1,918 Spanish, 44%, and 2,465 Chilean, 56%) it was analyzed the reliability of the instrument, the compared validity of the 5 oblique factor model proposed by the authors versus the unifactorial and the orthogonal alternative models, and was studied the invariance of one Chilean sample.
