This article presents the biography and intellectual legacy of Valencian sociologist Rafael L. Ninyoles (1943- 2019). It reviews his formative itinerary, his early contributions to the field of the sociology of language, his latest contributions to the sociology of cities and cultural spaces, and his key involvement in the promoti-on and consolidation of the sociological study of Valencian society. The article includes a note on public acknowledgements to the author, plus an annex with a selective bibliography aimed at serving the interested reader and the posthumous diffusion of Ninyoles? oeuvre.

Il contributo intende presentare criticamente alcuni interventi di restauro allineati alla più moderna ed evoluta cultura della conservazione. I due interventi sono compiuti in Sicilia sui resti di due monumenti distrutti dal terremoto che danneggiò la vallata del fiume Belice nel 1968. The paper presents the results of a campaign of non-destructive and minimally invasive tests that were conducted in the former mother church of Santa Margherita di Belice (Agrigento, Sicily), damaged during the earthquake in 1968 and now re-used as a “Museum of Memory”. Fiscal Adjustments and Business Cycle Synchronization

Using a panel of annual data for 20 countries we show that synchronized fiscal consolidation (stimulus) programmes in different countries make their business cycles more closely linked, especially in the case of fiscal adjustments lasting 2 or 3 years. We also find: (i) little evidence of decoupling when an inflation targeting regime is unilaterally adopted; (ii) an increase in business cycle synchronization when countries fix their exchange rates and become members of a monetary union; (iii) a positive effect of bilateral trade on the synchronization of business cycles
