Electrical and photovoltaic properties of indium‐tin‐oxide/p‐InSe/Au solar cells

1987

Conditions for efficiency improvement and optimization in indium‐tin‐oxide/p‐indium‐selenide solar cells are discussed in this paper. This aim is achieved by using low‐resistivity p‐indium‐selenide and by incorporating a back‐surface‐field contact. This contact is insured by a p‐indium selenide/gold barrier whose rectifying behavior is explained through the complex impurity structure of p‐indium‐selenide. Electrical and photovoltaic properties of the cells are also reported. The efficiency parameters under AM1 simulated conditions have been improved up to 32 mA/cm2 for the short‐circuit current density, 0.58 V for the open‐circuit voltage, and 0.63 for the filling factor. As a result, solar…

Generation of white LED light by frequency downconversion using a perylene-based dye

2012

A high efficiency white light emitting diode (LED) was fabricated by generation of frequency down-conversion from a GaN/InGaN blue LED. In place of conventional inorganic phosphors, a perylene-based dye was used for colour conversion. The resulting hybrid structure is analysed by focusing on the visual performance of the realised LEDs employing the most relevant photometric parameters of a light source. Preparation of the organic polymer is described as well. The thermal stability of the dye was investigated and a simple structure which avoids colour degradation is proposed.

A coupled lossy local-mode theory description of a plasmonic tip

2012

International audience; We investigate power propagation in a metal-coated tapered optical fiber. We analyze in detail the conversion from the fiber core guided mode to a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) confined at the tip apex. To this aim, we adapt coupled local-mode theory to include lossy modes. Two distinct regimes are identified. In the case of thin metal coating, a strong coupling regime occurs between a core guided mode and a SPP with good conversion efficiency. In the case of thick metal coating, a very weak coupling occurs. Finally, energy confinement and the role of Joule losses are discussed in the near-infrared and visible ranges. Moreover, the coupled equations derived for loc…

The use of two-diode substitute model in predicting the efficiency of PV conversion in low solar conditions

2017

The article presents theoretical foundations of a two-diode equivalent model of a photovoltaic cell/module (PV), together with calculation procedures. A physical interpretation of individual components of an equivalent model was presented. Its practical application in predicting efficiency of operation of various PV cells and modules in low insulation conditions was demonstrated. The obtained predictions were verified with the actual results of their operation in open space (outdoor). The practical suitability of the “model” in early detection of ageing phenomena, such as, for example, absorber degradation taking place in PV modules, was demonstrated. The article was prepared on the basis o…

La vida cotidiana de los vecinos de Manila a través de sus testamentos e inventarios de bienes

2019

With the general objective indicated in its title, this work tries to highlight relevant aspects in the continuity of the Spanish domain in the Philippines, dependent on the maintenance of the Spanish capital. The inevitable selection of topics has lead the preferences of this work towards the residents collaboration to defend the city, the conversion of many of them into traders of exotic products and singular slaves owners, and their collaboration to an incredible miscegenation due to the ethnic variety. On the other hand, to follow the footsteps of the first generation of residents in Manila, at the end of the 16th century and during the 17th century, this work gives us some information …

Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Studies of Diphosphorylated Metalloporphyrins. Generation of a Phlorin Anion Product

2015

Two series of diphosphoryl-substituted porphyrins were synthesized and characterized by electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry in nonaqueous media containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate (TBAP). The investigated compounds are 5,15-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)-10,20-diphenylporphyrins (Ph)2(P(O)(OEt)2)2PorM and 5,15-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)-10,20-di(para-carbomethoxyphenyl)porphyrins (PhCOOMe)2(P(O)(OEt)2)2PorM where M = 2H, Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), or Pd(II). The free-base and five metalated porphyrins with nonredox active centers undergo two ring-centered oxidations and two ring-centered reductions, the latter of which is followed by a chemical reaction of the por…

Trilateral π-conjugation extensions of phenothiazine-based dyes enhance the photovoltaic performance of the dye-sensitized solar cells

2016

Abstract Two novel organic dyes TLEP-1 and TLEP-2 based on phenothiazine with trilateral π-conjugation extensions were designed and synthesized for dye-sensitized solar cells, where phenothiazine ring was linked with two phenyl moieties at 7- and 10-positions as the first and second π-conjugation extensions, and with furan or thiophene ring at 3-position as the third π-conjugation extension for TLEP-1 and TLEP-2, respectively. The influence of the π-conjugation extensions on the photovoltaic performance was evaluated. The cell based on TLEP-2 exhibits an impressive short-circuit photocurrent density of 14.87 mA cm−2, which is much higher than the cell based on the reference dye without π-co…

Structural Analysis and Photocurrent Spectroscopy of CCCs on 99.99% Aluminum

2003

A characterization of chromate conversion coatings (CCCs) formed in the presence and in the absence of accelerator (ferroferricyanide redox couple) has been performed by various techniques (transmission electron microscopy, TEM, glow discharge optical emission spectrometry, GDOES, X-ray absorption near-end structure, XANES, and photon correlation spectroscopy). The results of a detailed investigation on morphological, compositional, and solid-state properties of freshly converted aluminum samples at different immersion times (30 s-90 min) are reported. The TEM and GDOES data suggest the presence of iron-cyanide species only in the external layer of CCC of nearly constant thickness. The XANE…
