Acidic imidazolium salts: catalysts for biomass transformation
Nanostructured Materials Obtained by Electrochemical Methods: From Fabrication to Application in Sensing, Energy Conversion, and Storage
2020
It is well known that physical and surface properties of nanomaterials are promising to enhance efficiency of nanostructured devices for sensing and for sustainable energy production, conversion, and storage. However, the practical use of nanomaterials is often complicated by the lack of scalable and cost-efficient synthesis procedures and the challenge of integrating into devices 1D nanomaterials saving their structural features. In this field, one of the most severe challenges is to find suitable methods for fabricating nanomaterials. Over the years, numerous preparation methods were proposed in the literature, but not all of them are easily scalable and economically advantageous for indu…
Formation of high added value chemicals by photocatalytic treatment of biomass
2020
The depletion of fossil fuel requires the search for alternative renewable feedstock and environmentally friendly methods for the production of high value-added compounds and fuels. In this context, the efficient use of biomass has emerged as a significant research field as it represents an alternative green and renewable carbon source. Various technologies have been explored for this purpose and heterogeneous photocatalysis represents a valid alternative to the catalytic methods since it can be carried out under mild experimental conditions without the addition of harmful oxidizing agents. Different biomass components have been used as the starting materials, and many valuable chemicals h…
Electrodialysis with bipolar membranes for the generation of NaOH and HCl solutions from brines: an inter-laboratory evaluation of thin and ultrathin…
2022
The SEArcularMINE project aims to recover critical raw materials (CRMs) from brines from saltworks, thus facing a CRM shortage within Europe. To promote a fully circular scheme, the project valorises concentrated brines using electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (EDBM) to generate the required amounts of reactants (i.e., acids and bases). Regarding the performances of new non-woven cloth ion-exchange membranes (Suez): (i) an ultra-thin non-woven polyester cloth and (ii) a thin polypropylene cloth acting as the support structures were assessed. Additionally, the anion layer includes a catalyst to promote the water dissociation reaction. The effect of current density (100, 200, and 300 A m&…
Analysis of Operational Parameters in Acid and Base Production Using an Electrodialysis with Bipolar Membranes Pilot Plant
2023
In agreement with the Water Framework Directive, Circular Economy and European Union (EU) Green Deal packages, the EU-funded WATER-MINING project aims to validate next-generation water resource solutions at the pre-commercial demonstration scale in order to provide water management and recovery of valuable materials from alternative sources. In the framework of the WATER-MINING project, desalination brines from the Lampedusa (Italy) seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plant will be used to produce freshwater and recover valuable salts by integrating different technologies. In particular, electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (EDBM) will be used to produce chemicals (NaOH and HCl). A novel EDBM…
Adaptive Feed-Forward Neural Network for Wind Power Delivery
2022
This paper describes a grid connected wind energy conversion system. The interconnecting filter is a simple inductor with a series resistor to minimize three-phase current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Using the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) Estimator, an online grid impedance technique is proposed in the stationary reference frame using the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) Estimator. An Adaptive Feedforward Neural (AFN) Controller has also been developed using the inverse of the system to improve the performance of the current Proportional-Integral controller under dynamical conditions and provide better DC link voltage stability. The neural network weights are computed in real-time using …
Somministrazione e mancata valutazione dei rischi
2019
The current work deals with the recent jurisprudence about the remedies in case of use of temporary employment in company units lacking of health and safety risk rating document.
2017
This paper focuses on the subject of conversion in Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim’s dramatic plays (or «dramatic dialogues») and, chiefly, in the first of them, the Gallicanus. The play is divided in two parts and is entirely founded on hagiograhical sources, regarding some episodes about the conversion of Gallican, emperor Constantine’s commander-in-chief (BHL 3236: Conversio Gallicani principis militiae), and the martyrdom of primicerii John and Paul (BHL 3242: Passio martyrum Iohannis et Pauli). Through a strict analysis of Hrotsvitha’s play’s matter, can be highlighted the different typologies of the conversion’s theme, which involves a spiritual renovation, and the treatment of dramatic plo…
