Translationally invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space for nuclei
2002
We study a formulation of the translationally invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space for finite nuclei. The new formulation remedies convergence problems that plagued previous calculations in configuration space. The method is applied to light nuclei using semi-realistic central interactions.
The translationally-invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space
2000
We study a formulation of the translationally-invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space. Previous calculations in configuration space showed poor convergence, a problem that the new formulation is expected to remedy. This question is investigated for a system of bosons interacting through the Wigner part of the Afnan-Tang S3 interaction, where previous results exist.
Translationally invariant treatment of pair correlations in nuclei - II. Tensor correlations
1998
We study the extension of our translationally invariant treatment of few-body nuclear systems to include tensor forces and correlations. It is shown that a direct application of our method is not as successful for realistic V6 interactions as our previous results for V4 potentials suggested. We investigate the cause in detail for the case of $^4$He, and show that a combination of our method with that of Jastrow-correlated wave functions seems to be a lot more powerful, thereby suggesting that for mildly to strongly repulsive forces such a hybrid procedure may be an appropriate description.
Effects of neutron richness on the behavior of nuclear systems at intermediate energies
2012
We discuss results concerning the behavior of hot nuclear sources formed in 40 ,48Ca+40 ,48Ca reactions at 25 MeV/nucleon. A correlation between the neutron-to-proton ratio of the total systems and heavy residue production is found. This correlation underlines the strong role played by the neutron-to-proton ratio degree of freedom on the behavior of hot nuclei at intermediate energies. Comparisons of our data with Constrained Molecular Dynamics calculations confirm that a moderately stiff behavior of the symmetry potential must be used to reproduce experimental data. These findings open the way for future investigations with exotic beams at radioactive ion beam facilities. © 2012 American P…

Short-range correlations and neutrinoless double beta decay
2007
In this work we report on the effects of short-range correlations upon the matrix elements of neutrinoless double beta decay. We focus on the calculation of the matrix elements of the neutrino-mass mode of neutrinoless double beta decays of 48Ca and 76Ge. The nuclear-structure components of the calculation, that is the participant nuclear wave functions, have been calculated in the shell-model scheme for 48Ca and in the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) scheme for 76Ge. We compare the traditional approach of using the Jastrow correlation function with the more complete scheme of the unitary correlation operator method (UCOM). Our results indicate that the Jast…

Two-pion Bose–Einstein correlations in central Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2011
The first measurement of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in central Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. We observe a growing trend with energy now not only for the longitudinal and the outward but also for the sideward pion source radius. The pion homogeneity volume and the decoupling time are significantly larger than those measured at RHIC. (C) 2010 CERN. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations inppcollisions ats=900 GeV
2010
We report on the measurement of two-pion correlation functions from pp collisions at root s = 900 GeV performed by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Our analysis shows an increase of the Hanbury Brown-Twiss radius with increasing event multiplicity, in line with other measurements done in particle- and nuclear collisions. Conversely, the strong decrease of the radius with increasing transverse momentum, as observed at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and at Tevatron, is not manifest in our data.
Prospects of searching for (un)particles from Hidden Sectors using rapidity correlations in multiparticle production at the LHC
2008
Most signatures of new physics have been studied on the transverse plane with respect to the beam direction at the LHC where background is much reduced. In this paper we propose the analysis of inclusive longitudinal (pseudo) rapidity correlations among final-state (charged) particles in order to search for (un)particles belonging to a hidden sector beyond the Standard Model, using a selected sample of p-p minimum bias events (applying appropriate off-line cuts on events based on, e.g. minijets, high-multiplicity, event shape variables, high-p(perpendicular to) leptons and photons, etc.) collected at the early running of the LHC. To this aim, we examine inclusive and semi-inclusive two-part…
