Existing cross-sectional research considers citizens' preferences for radical right-wing populist (RRP) parties to be centrally driven by their perception that immigrants threaten the well-being of the national ingroup. However, longitudinal evidence for this relationship is largely missing. Statistical analysis of life history calendar data

The life history calendar is a data-collection tool for obtaining reliable retrospective data about life events. To illustrate the analysis of such data, we compare the model-based probabilistic event history analysis and the model-free data mining method, sequence analysis. In event history analysis, we estimate instead of transition hazards the cumulative prediction probabilities of life events in the entire trajectory. In sequence analysis, we compare several dissimilarity metrics and contrast data-driven and user-defined substitution costs. Adaptation to life after surgical removal of the bladder—an application of graphical Markov models for analysing longitudinal data

Graphical Markov models have been developed particularly for the analysis of observational data. They allow the control of various background variables when analysing theoretically relevant associations. Phenotypic variability in patients with generalised resistance to thyroid hormone.

Genetic linkage of generalised resistance to thyroid hormone (GRTH) to the human thyroid receptor beta 1 gene has been identified. To date 38 different mutations in several kindreds have been documented. We report on a family with GRTH displaying an adenine for guanine substitution at nucleotide 1234 resulting in a threonine for alanine substitution at codon 317 of exon 9. This mutation has been described for different phenotypes, suggesting that the heterogeneity in GRTH may be the result of multiple genetic factors.

DaVinci's Mona Lisa entering the next dimension.

For several of Leonardo da Vinci's paintings, such as The Virgin and Child with St Anne or the Mona Lisa, there exist copies produced by his own studio. In case of the Mona Lisa, a quite exceptional, rediscovered studio copy was presented to the public in 2012 by the Prado Museum in Madrid. Not only does it mirror its famous counterpart superficially; it also features the very same corrections to the lower layers, which indicates that da Vinci and the ‘copyist’ must have elaborated their panels simultaneously. The dimensions of mobilities: The spatial relationships between corporeal and digital mobilities

Abstract The aim of this article is to study how the corporeal and digital mobilities are spatially organised in relation to each other in everyday life. The dimensions of mobilities are modelled by using survey data (N = 612) collected from Finland in 2011, Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) and Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA). The results show that the combined use of corporeal and digital means of mobility affect the spatial organisation of mobilities only little. The results indicate that young people and students are more likely to benefit from their mobility in networking activities as they are equipped with a larger variety of mobility means than older people and pensioners. Do low burnout and high work engagement always go hand in hand? Investigation of the energy and identification dimensions in longitudinal data

The aim of the present 2-year follow-up study among young managers (N=433) was to investigate the intraindividual developmental patterns of burnout and work engagement as well as their interconnections. More specifically, we examined the interconnectedness of the varying patterns (i.e., latent classes) of exhaustion and vigor (i.e., the energy dimension) and cynicism and dedication (i.e., the identification dimension) across time. Genotypic and phenotypic spectrum in tricho-rhino-phalangeal syndrome types I and III

Tricho-rhino-phalangeal syndrome (TRPS) is characterized by craniofacial and skeletal abnormalities. Three subtypes have been described: TRPS I, caused by mutations in the TRPS1 gene on chromosome 8; TRPS II, a microdeletion syndrome affecting the TRPS1 and EXT1 genes; and TRPS III, a form with severe brachydactyly, due to short metacarpals, and severe short stature, but without exostoses. Epimutation at human chromosome 14q32.2 in a boy with a upd(14)mat-like clinical phenotype.
