METHODS: A retrospective study of 32 patients who underwent a laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy performed at a high-volume center by a single pancreatic surgeon experienced with laparoscopic surgery was conducted. LEXOP: a lexical database providing orthography-phonology statistics for French monosyllabic words.

During the last 20 years, psycholinguistic research has identified many variables that influence reading and spelling processes. We describe a new computerized lexical database, LEXOP, which provides quantitative descriptors about the relations between orthography and phonology for French monosyllabic words. Three main classes of variables are considered: consistency of print-to-sound and sound-to-print associations, frequency of orthography-phonology correspondences, and word neighborhood characteristics.

Abstract The synthesis and structural characterization of Ni II , Cu II and Zn II complexes of two chelating 1,2,4-oxadiazole ligands, namely 3,5-bis(2′-pyridyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (bipyOXA) and 3-(2′-pyridyl)5-(phenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (pyOXA), is here reported. The formed hexacoordinated metal complexes are [M(bipyOXA) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 and [M(pyOXA) 2 (ClO 4 ) 2 ], respectively (M = Ni, Cu, Zn). Abstract Some Byzantine scholia to Aristotle offer numerical indications on the time-length of some phases of Empedocles’ cosmic cycle. In recent years an interpretation has become established, according to which the scholia pro-vide evidence for a cycle with three periods: the Sphairos and two opposite phases of Love’s and Strife’s unfolding. This paper emphasizes, in contrast, that the picture of the cycle we can draw from the scholia is not as clear-cut as generally supposed. Abstract Three steroidal dipyrromethanes, 3,3,24,24-tetrakis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholane 1 , 3,3-bis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholan-24-oic acid 2 , and methyl 3,3-bis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholan-24-oate 3 , have been prepared from 3α-hydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid (lithocholic acid) 4 in good overall yields. The structures of 1 – 3 have been fully characterized by 1 H, 13 C, PFG DQF 1 H– 1 H COSY, 1 H– 1 H ROESY, 13 C DEPT-135, PFG 1 H– 13 C HMQC, PFG 1 H– 13 C HMBC, and PFG 1 H– 15 N HMBC NMR spectra. Abstract The Protein Ensemble Database (PED) (https://proteinensemble.org), which holds structural ensembles of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), has been significantly updated and upgraded since its last release in 2016. The new version, PED 4.0, has been completely redesigned and reimplemented with cutting-edge technology and now holds about six times more data (162 versus 24 entries and 242 versus 60 structural ensembles) and a broader representation of state of the art ensemble generation methods than the previous version. Solid state 13C NMR spectroscopy has been applied to investigate the time scale and the geometry of rotational motions near the glass transition of the low-molar-mass van der Waals glass former 1,3,5-tri-α-naphthylbenzene (T g = 342 K). Two-dimensional 13C exchange spectra were taken between 347 and 372 K. With the principal values of the 13C chemical shift tensors determined from 13C CP/MAS spectra and static one-dimensional 13C spectra, the two-dimensional spectra are interpreted according to the isotropic rotational diffusional model to yield mean correlation times τ0 in the range 10 ms ˇ- τ0 ˇ- 50 s, and a log-Gaussian distribution of correlation times with a width of 1·5 decades.
