In this paper we revisit a taxonomy of client-side IoT software architectures that we presented a few years ago. We note that the emergence of inexpensive AI/ML hardware and new communication technologies are broadening the architectural options for IoT devices even further. These options can have a significant impact on the overall end-to-end architecture and topology of IoT systems, e.g., in determining how much computation can be performed on the edge of the network. We study the implications of the IoT device architecture choices in light of the new observations, as well as make some new predictions about future directions. On the structural optimization in presence of base isolating devices

The minimum volume design of plane frames constituted by elastic perfectly plastic material and subjected to appropriate combinations of fixed, cyclic and dynamic loads is studied. The influence on the design, in terms of cost (volume) and behavioural features, of seismic protecting devices is particularly focused. The considered protecting device is a lead rubber bearing base isolation system. Pētījums Silvijas Plātas dzejoļu krājuma strukturālistiska analīze tapis ar nolūku analizēt Silvijas Plātas dzeju izmantojot Jūrija Lotmana strukturālo analīzes metodi un apsvērt dzejas sastāva, vienotības, ritma un pantmēra ziņā, kā arī atrast tēlāinus izteiksmes līdzekļus, noteikt to veidus un funkcijas dzejoļos. Pētījums atklāj, ka Lotmana metode ir piemērojama Silvijas Plātas dzejas analīzei un demonstrē kā atrastie tēlāinie izteiksmes līdzekļi tiek izmantoti saistībā ar nāves un bērna piedzimšanas tematiem.
Synchronizing Two Superconducting Qubits through a Dissipating Resonator

A system consisting of two qubits and a resonator is considered in the presence of different sources of noise, bringing to light the possibility of making the two qubits evolve in a synchronized way. A direct qubit–qubit interaction turns out to be a crucial ingredient, as well as the dissipation processes involving the resonator. The detrimental role of the local dephasing of the qubits is also taken into account.

Tutkielmassa määritettiin uuden suprajohtavan kvantti-interferenssilaitteen ja 256 pikseliä sisältävän sirun transitioreunailmaisimien ominaisuuksia. Komponentit vaativat erittäin matalia lämpötiloja ja suojauksen suurilta magneettikentiltä muuttuakseen suprajohtaviksi. Development of niobium-based superconducting junctions

This thesis presents a review of publications which mainly focuses on the fabrication and performance of Nb-based normal metal-insulator-superconductor (NIS) tunnel junctions and superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) Josephson junctions at low temperatures. The Cu/AlOx-Al/Nb based NIS double tunnel junctions were successfully fabricated using conventional electron beam lithography combined with multi-angle thermal evaporation of metals in ultra high vacuum. The subgap characteristics of these junctions showed expected temperature dependence from 0.2 K to 5 K with a good thermometry sensitivity 0.2-0.3 mV/K. Using a mobile application to support children's writing motivation

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the use of the prototype of a mobile application for the enhancement of children's motivation for writing. The results are explored from students' and experts' perspectives.Design/methodology/approachThis study is based on a field trial and expert evaluations of a prototype of a mobile application. The field trial data consists of questionnaire data collected from elementary school students (n=25) who used the mobile prototype.
