Gli ultimi decenni della storia linguistica del nostro Paese sono stati scanditi da una serie di rapidi e importanti mutamenti dell’assetto sociolinguistico: l’italiano, sempre più orientato sull’asse dell’oralità, è cambiato anche nella canzone che a poco a poco si è aperta ai tratti del parlato scrollandosi di dosso l’insieme di “for¬mule” ereditate dal passato. In questa cesura col passato, la tendenza alla ricerca di una lingua che riproponesse i tratti del parlato ha ovviamente favorito anche una significativa sporgenza verso il dialetto. The volume offers a descrption of the main linguistic aspects of the Italian popular song. In the first chapter a brief reconstruction of the history of Italian popular song is showed. The second chapter focuses on the relations between tradition and innovation in the Italian popular song. In particular, authors underline the role of intertextuality in the development of the Italian popular song. The third chapter is devoted to investigate the synchronnic variability (both spatial and social) within the Italian popular song. The final chapter shows the role of the Italian dialects in the historical development of the Italian popular song

Si recensisce il voume di G. Ruffino, “Variazione diatopiaca in Sicilia. Cartografia elementare”, Centro di studi filologici e linguistici sicilani, Palermo 2018. Il saggio ripropone, con minimi aggiornamenti, il fondamentale studio sull’assetto linguistico della Sicilia che lo stesso Autore aveva presentato – con il titolo di “Isoglosse siciliane” – in occasione del congresso su “Tre millenni di storia linguistica della Sicilia, svoltosi a Palermo nel 1983 (atti curati da Adriana Quattordio Moreschini, Giardini Editori e stampatori, Pisa 1984).

A partire dalla diffusione degli esiti del germ. *top in diverse varietà romanze, il contributo intende dimostrare - attraverso il risconto dei prestiti siciliani in varietà siculo-albanesi - che questo tipo lessicale, nonostante la mancanza di attestazioni dirette nelle opere lessicografiche, dovrebbe avere avuto esiti diretti (e non soltanto di tramite fr,antico) anche nelle varietà siciliane.

Il ritorno alla “località”, anche mediante il dialetto, quale simbolo di microspazialità fisica e culturale, con lo scopo di creare il necessario contrappunto al senso di straniamento e alienazione determinato dal modello globale, sembra particolarmente vero per la canzone dialettale contemporanea. This is a very concise outline of the linguistic framework of Sicily as an introduction to the essay analysing the “Recordings from Prisoner of War Camps, World War I. Italian Reconrdings”. This work, first published by the Verlag der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (edited by Gerda Lechleitner, Christian Liebl and Serenella Baggio) and now published by the Accademia della Crusca (edited by S. Baggio), contains in fact the records of three Sicilian prisoners, respectively from Alcamo (TP), Sciacca (AG) and Pietraperzia (EN).
