Approccio Metodico alla Riprogettazione di un Semirimorchio

2003

Economic competition leads to continuous development of new products and processes, but it is opposed by the decrease of speed of characteristics improvement and by the consequent tendency of the market to saturation. Redesign assumes in this context a particular remark because it cans allowing the acceleration of process of performances increase. This objective needs a methodical and structured approach that can leading, even, to the modification of product concept. In this work it has been studied the possibility of reducing the mass of a road semitrailer, by intervening on its structural elements. Some solutions, characterized by new topology and/or materials, have been examined and a st…

Improving the Downwind Sail Design Process by Means of a Novel FSI Approach

2021

The process of designing a sail can be a challenging task because of the difficulties in predicting the real aerodynamic performance. This is especially true in the case of downwind sails, where the evaluation of the real shapes and aerodynamic forces can be very complex because of turbulent and detached flows and the high-deformable behavior of structures. Of course, numerical methods are very useful and reliable tools to investigate sail performances, and their use, also as a result of the exponential growth of computational resources at a very low cost, is spreading more and more, even in not highly competitive fields. This paper presents a new methodology to support sail designers in ev…

The shape of the liquid plain: sicilian salt flats

2019

This paper analyzes the salt flats as a place for the mixing of knowledge and experiences that originate and substantiate life: from the application of physical, chemical and biological principles to produce salt, to economic laws to regulate sales and trade, to aspects socio-anthropological aspects underlying the life of the communities that worked in production. A patrimony of material and immaterial overlaps, generated by the redesign of a segment of territory with physical and positional characteristics median between sea and land, and in which man strives to obtain fundamental resources for his livelihood. Given the complex moment of crisis and gradual abandonment that these particular…

Apparenti disegni eretici

2022

New Data on the Silver Objects from the House of Eupolemos (Morgantina, Sicily)

2015

Due to their intrinsic value, ancient silver objects have often arrived at museums throughout the world with provenance other than that of regular excavations, and therefore much data regarding the context and the production process in the workshops of origin, as well as the circulation of such objects, is missing. The discovery of silver objects, in fact, is derived from what one may define as non-productive hoarding – archaeological collections created through the formal burial or the furtive hiding in a moment of danger of objects that were never recovered – circumstances that limit the possibility of knowing the primary use of the object in antiquity, in the manner that we can determine…

2016

The aim of the paper is to deepen the cognitive analysis of the coastal “Torreggiamento” of the province of Salerno, focusing not so much on individual products, but rather on the entire defence system of the coastal territory in the Viceregal era. It is a dense network of towers, located in careful strategic points, with the purpose to control the coast and identify on time the pirate attacks. Through the analysis and comparison of ancient maps, got until now, we want focus the attention on the visual communication between the towers, or on the “dialogue” that entertain each other the different artefacts. There will be a comparison between the original project of dislocation of the towers …
