Sperm production is physiologically costly. Consequently, males are expected to be prudent in their sperm production, and tailor their expenditure according to prevailing social conditions. Differences in sperm production have been found across island populations of house mice that differ in the level of selection from sperm competition. Optimal savings and health spending over the life cycle

This paper investigates the relationship between saving and health spending in a two-period overlapping generations economy. Individuals work in the first period of life and live in retirement in old age. Health spending is an activity that increases quality of life and longevity. Empirical evidence shows that both health spending and saving behave as luxury goods but their behaviour differs markedly according to the level of per capita GDP. Ābeles ir komerciāli nozīmīgs kultūraugs visā pasaulē, bet ik gadu nozīmīgus bojājumus rada patogēnās sēnes Venturia inaequalis izraisītais ābeļu kraupis. Kraupja ierobežošana pārsvarā balstīta uz intensīvu un regulāru pesticīdu izmantošanu, tādējādi radot negatīvu ietekmi uz vidi un cilvēku veselību. Alternatīva ir izveidot kraupja rezistentas ābeļu šķirnes. Use of Biostimulants for Organic Apple Production: Effects on Tree Growth, Yield, and Fruit Quality at Harvest and During Storage

The experiment was conducted during two consecutive seasons (years 2016 and 2017) in an organic apple orchard of the cultivar Jonathan. Several biostimulants were tested (10 in total), including humic acids, macro and micro seaweed extracts, alfalfa protein hydrolysate, amino acids alone or in combination with zinc, B-group vitamins, chitosan and a commercial product containing silicon. Tutkimuksemme on osa suomalaista VARJO-hanketta, jonka tarkoitus on kehittää palveluita eron jälkeisen vainon uhrien tueksi sekä ehkäisevään työhön ja kuntoutukseen liittyviä työmuotoja. Tutkimuksemme aineisto koostui naispuolisten vainon uhrien internetpohjaisen vertaisryhmän aikana käydyistä keskusteluista, joita tarkastelimme sisällönanalyysin avulla. Tutkimuksemme tarkoitus oli lisätä tietoisuutta vainon uhrien kokemuksista liittyen viranomaisten toimintaan ja tutkintaprosessiin sekä selviytymiskeinoista, jotka he kokivat hyödyllisiksi yrittäessään selviytyä eron jälkeisestä vainosta. Se ofrece el perfil de la mujer que ha sufrido malos tratos, a partir de un estudio con 297 mujeres que reciben ayudas sociales por parte del Ayuntamiento de Valencia. La incidencia del maltrato en este grupo es del 37,3%. El perfil de estas mujeres, en comparación con las mujeres del mismo grupo que no han recibido malos tratos se caracteriza por ser de etnia paya, estructura familiar monoparental, estado civil separada, con varias relaciones de pareja previas y con problemas de salud psicológica.
