In linea con le ultime ricerche organizzate dal Parco Archeologico Regionale Valle dei Templi di Agrigento, il cui scopo è la conoscenza dell'antica città di Akragas/Agrigentum come sistema integrato e unitario, si è dedicata nuova attenzione alle forme dell'abitare, in particolare nell'area del cosiddetto "Quartiere ellenistico-romano". Quest'area fu scavata negli anni '50 e '60 del secolo scorso, ma è con la pubblicazione di E. De Miro, avvenuta solo nel 2009, che è stato possibile conoscere i risultati delle indagini. The essential oils composition of the skin, pulp and seeds from fruits of two Sicilian cultivars of Opuntia ficus-indica (cv. Sanguigna and cv. Surfarina has been obtainedby hydrodistillation and the possible semiochemical roles have been investigated comparing the data with those reported in the literature. La Casa a Peristilio 1 di Monte Iato è una delle più lussuose e meglio pubblicate abitazioni ellenistiche dell’intera Sicilia. Il problema più dibattuto che la concerne riguarda la sua cronologia. Diversi studiosi, concentrando la loro attenzione su differenti aspetti (membrature architettoniche, cronologia dei rinvenimenti ceramici o considerazioni di ordine storico), hanno discusso la datazione della casa agli anni attorno al 300 a.C., suggerendo una cronologia più tarda. Floral scent in sapromyiophilous plants often consists of complex blends with not only fetid (e.g., sulfides) but also sweet (e.g., terpenoids) volatile organic compounds and a recent study suggests that both groups of compounds are involved in pollinator attraction. Validating an apple dry matter production model with whole canopy gas exchange measurements in the field

The simplified apple dry matter production model developed by Lakso and Johnson (1990) was modified by inputing tree-specific parameters from a study of seasonal growth and gas exchange of 4-year-old Empire/M.9 apple trees, and light and temperature response curves developed for Empire apple organs. Measurements of the seasonal trend of diurnal net C02 and canopy water vapor exchange were made at intervals on three four-year-old 'Empire'/M.9 slender spindle apple trees in the orchard from 10 days after bloom until 25 days after harvest. SUMMARYThe effects of partial rootzone drying (PRD) and rootstock vigour on dry matter accumulation and partitioning among leaves, shoots, fruits, frame and roots of apple trees (Malus domesticaBorkh. cvar Pink Lady) were investigated in 2005 near Caltavuturo, in Sicily.
