Dwelling and COVID-19
2022
The recent pandemic has made more evident the many unsolved cruxes of the human dwelling on earth that, for decades, have been ignored. The urban condition forcibly metaphysical and the over-compressed domestic one, determined by the lockdown period, provided more obvious connotations to a well-known situation. The SARS– Cov–2 and the COVID–19 viruses are, in chronological order, merely the last signal that the World has released, making more straightforward an extreme situation. Which is the difference with similar phenomena of the recent past? Certainty, a greater virus spread, if compared to other epidemics, and several deaths that keep growing in some areas of the planet, unfortunately,…
Simplified thermal analysis of naturally ventilated dwellings
1991
Abstract A simplified comprehensive methodology for thermal comfort prediction in a naturally crossventilated room is described. The methodology mainly consists of the following three steps: • - analysis of the dynamic thermal behaviour of the given room, by means of the admittance procedure; • - evaluation of the air flows rates and their velocities in the room, by means of a new simplified method; • - thermal comfort prediction by means of the Fanger's theory. The results obtained appear satisfactory and the simplified methodology makes itself a useful tool for the identification of appropriate choices at the early stages of the design process, regarding naturally ventilated buildings. Néolithique. Les villages de Chalain & Clairvaux, patrimoine de l’humanité
2021
This book accompanies the exhibition « Neolithic. The villages of Chalain & Clairvaux, heritage of humanity ». The history of research on the different stations on the shores of Chalain and Clairvaux is retraced, in particular the work directed by Pierre and Anne-Marie Pétrequin over the past fifty years. The inscription of these sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, within the serial property "Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps" is explained. The book then addresses the daily life in these neolithic villages around five themes: consuming the wild, agriculture and livestock, construction, daily life in the house, exchanges and innovations. Finally, the issue of preservation of si…
La casa e la didattica del progetto
2020

Sense of coherence and health among home-dwelling older people.
2010
Sense of coherence (SOC) is important for maintaining health. The aim of this study was to investigate if the SOC experience among home-dwelling physically active older people differs from that of hospital patients with the same age and sex. Data were collected with questionnaires and structured interviews containing Antonovsky’s SOC scale in an age- and sex-matched study group (n=160). Non-parametric statistical analyses were performed. No differences were found in SOC between home-dwelling individuals and patients. Ninety-five percent of the home-dwelling individuals perceived themselves as being in good health and 42.5% among the patients (p<0.001). SOC and disease were predictors fo…
