Corruption in international business: A review and research agenda

Abstract We systematically reviewed the literature on corruption in international business (137 articles) for the last 17 years between 1992 and 2019. Additionally, we identified seven research streams in this growing literature: (1) the legislation against corruption, (2) the determinants of corruption, (3) combating corruption, 4) the effect of corruption on firms, (5) the political environment and corruption, (6) corruption as a challenge to existing theories of management, and (7) the effect of corruption on foreign direct investment and trade. The conversion from conventional to organic management of olive growing has many benefits, such as increase of biodiversity, reduction of soil erosion and lower environmental impact. Since olive represents a main crop in the Mediterranean area, from a social, economic as well as environmental point of view, the aim of this paper has been to determine if the conversion from conventional to organic olive growing can increase the profitability of the farmer in Sicilian farms. L’obiettivo di questo lavoro (che costituisce il primo step di un più articolato percorso di ricerca) è di fornire un quadro teorico di riferimento utile alla comprensione delle possibili conseguenze che l’avvento della blockchain e delle criptovalute può avere sul contesto imprenditoriale e strategico-competitivo. Nello specifico, si vuole indagare se l’utilizzo della tecnologia blockchain possa rappresentare un effettivo strumento di “democratizzazione imprenditoriale” e di enfatizzazione del personal power dei singoli attori oppure sia il driver di una bolla speculativa basata sulle criptovalute.

In this paper we discuss the body of knowledge known as complex system theory and its relevance to the analysis of inter-firm networks. We start by addressing the development of systems thinking. Through a literature overview, we point out the main elements for the development of systemic thought from its beginning, through its application in business sciences, to the birth of Complex Systems Theory (CST). With these initial annotations we provide an introduction to the concepts of the complex systems theory. Tra le regioni italiane la Sicilia rappresenta la principale area di produzione e si colloca all’ultimo posto relativamente ai consumi. Attraverso un’indagine pilota nella citta di Palermo, si e voluto indagare, sui motivi del mancato acquisto di prodotti biologici per comprendere quali sono le leve del marketing mix su cui e possibile intervenire per attrarre nuovi segmenti di mercato.
