2014

Highlights Philosophy of mind offers a new philosophical foundation for authenticity. Philosophy of mind studies mental states, whose defining property is intentionality. Intentionality is an essential trait in any characterization of authenticity. Experiencing authenticity is a mental state. Freedom and Redistribution

2012

In this paper we study the determinants of peopleís attitudes toward income inequality and their economic consequences. We argue that an individualís atti- tudes toward inequality depend upon the extent of freedom of choice and control over life outcomes he enjoys. We construct a two-stage empirical model where people Örst choose the level of income transfers and then their optimal level of ef- fort. We Önd that the higher the extent of an individualís free choice and control over life outcomes, the greater the probability that he supports larger income di§erences as incentives for individual e§ort. We also show that this relationship determines important consequences for the individualís w…

Ripensare l'azienda: una prospettiva unitarista

2009

Enhancing performance management and sustainable organizational growth through system-dynamics modelling

2012

Organizational growth and performance management provide two important research topics for both enterprises and public sector organizations. Improving performance levels, or at least keeping them stable over time, is a hot topic not only for business executives and entrepreneurs, but also for managers and policy makers in public and non-profit institutions. How best to design Planning & Control (P&C) systems to support organizational performance management and assessment in a sustainability perspective? This paper illustrates the need for a methodological framework that would link system dynamics to P&C systems so as to support decision-makers in managing organizational performance, as well…

Interfirm Network Analysis in Marginal Tourist Destinations: The Mediator Company in Business Relationships

2022

The literature on tourist destinations and the use of empirical approaches evidence the need to adopt this model to increase tourism economies. In model application, the enterprises, and local stakeholders, sometimes represent limitations or opportunities. This article opens the view to tourist destination networks, described as relational structures that can influence and determine the destination-building process. The Network Analysis methodology offers a better understanding of inter-firm relational dynamics when applied in a small context, and in this case, the application was undertaken on the island of Sicily, in Menfi town and its hinterland. Findings show the presence of a company t…
