International audience; This study focuses on the feasibility of a detector-electrode for direct alpha measurement in aqueous samples. Such a device could be made by adding a boron doped diamond electrode on top of a standard silicon detector, with bonding and insulating layers. The impact of these different layers has been investigated by Monte-Carlo simulation (MCNP6), to find a compromise between alpha detection of the silicon, electrode and shielding properties of the diamond. The assembly process involving thermocompression between both substrates was successfully achieved under a clean room conditions.

Photoelectrochemical properties of doped lanthanum orthoferrites

Abstract LaFeO 3 powders doped with Sr (20 mol%) and Cu (0-10-20 mol%) were prepared by citrate auto-combustion synthesis and investigated in terms of crystal structure, morphology, surface area and optical properties. All powders showed photocurrent response in the form of a pasted and annealed electrode and as slurry electrode; the highest value was obtained for undoped orthoferrite calcined at 600 °C. Their physical–chemical properties were related to photoelectrochemical behaviour. Thermometry by Arrays of Tunnel Junctions

We show that arrays of tunnel junctions between normal metal electrodes exhibit features suitable for primary thermometry in an experimentally adjustable temperature range where thermal and charging effects compete. $I\ensuremath{-}V$ and $\frac{\mathrm{dI}}{\mathrm{dV}}$ vs $V$ have been calculated for two junctions including a universal analytic high temperature result. Experimentally the width of the conductance minimum in this regime scales with $T$ and $N$, the number of junctions, and its value (per junction) agrees with the calculated one to within 3% for large $N$. The height of this feature is inversely proportional to $T$.

A newly developed system of \(P{a_{{O_2}}}\)-controlled automatic ventilation is reported on. \({P_{{O_2}}}\) microelectrodes (Beckman, IBC) are used to measure arterial \({P_{{O_2}}}\) continuously. In a feedback control system the inspiratory O2 concentration of a respirator is adjusted as long as the set point and actual value of the arterial \({P_{{O_2}}}\) correspond. The functional behavior of the feedback control system is described.

Spectroscopic response of a CdZnTe multiple electrode detector

Abstract The spectroscopic performances of a CdZnTe detector (crystal size: 5×5×0.9 mm 3 ) with five electrodes (cathode, anode and three steering electrodes) were studied. The anode layout, which consists of a circular electrode ( φ =80 μm) surrounded by two ring electrodes (gap=100 μm; radial width Δ r =100 μm) and by one electrode that extends to the edge of the crystal, is mostly sensitive to the electron carriers, overcoming the well known effect of the hole trapping in the measured spectra. Constant-potential electrolysis: determination of diffusion coefficients of thallium by using a hanging mercury drop electrode.

The technique of constant-potential electrolysis at a stationary spherical electrode (hanging mercury drop) was investigated for the determination of the diffusion coefficient of Tl(I) in sodium citrate-sodium hydroxide medium and of Tl in mercury. Current-time curves, at controlled potential, were obtained, covering periods from 1 to 25 sec after the start of the electrolysis. The influence of applied potential, time of electrolysis, convection and shielding of the electrode was studied.

Inverse Polarography and Voltammetry: New Methods for Trace Analysis

Inverse polarographic and voltammetric methods are surveyed. The electrochemical determination procedure is carried out by current reversal after electrolytic concentration on a working electrode. Analyses in the nanogram (ng) region (10−9 g.) are possible because the sensitivity is increased by a factor of 100 to 1000 in comparison with the usual polarographic and voltammetric methods. These methods are, therefore, of particular interestin trace analysis.
