Experimental and theoretical studies on electropolymerization of polar amino acids on platinum electrode

International audience; The anodic oxidation of polar amino acids (L-serine, L-threonine, L-asparagine, and L-glutamine) in aqueous electrolyte on smooth platinum electrode was carried out by cyclic voltammetry coupled to electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). pH (zwitterion, acidic and alkaline) effects on their electrochemical behavior were examined. The maximum current values are measured for zwitterion species. In addition, the current increases with increasing of concentration and scan rate, and decreases with increasing pH. A driving hypothesis of the evolving field of sedentary behavior is that frequent muscle activity short-circuits detrimental physiological effects of sedentary time. Environmental context.In the last 20 years, the demand for palladium and other platinum-group elements has intensified, causing a significant increase in their concentration in the environment, with particular accumulation in urban areas. Knowledge about Pd2+ speciation in aqueous media is fundamental for the understanding of its biological and environmental activity in contaminated areas. Complexes of Azelaic and Diethylenetrioxydiacetic Acids with Na+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ in NaCl Aqueous Solutions, at 25 °C

Formation constants of Na + , Mg 2+ , and Ca 2+ complexes of azelaic and diethylenetrioxydiacetic acids have been determined by potentiometry (H + -glass electrode) at different ionic strengths (0 ≤ I ≤ 1 mol dm -3 ), at t = 25 °C. For all the systems the species ML and MHL have been found. The relative formation constants are reported together with the parameters for the dependence on ionic strength. Results are discussed in comparison with those for other carboxylic ligands. Speciation problems are considered also.

Five aromatic borate anions, namely tetrakis(4-phenoxyphenyl)borate (1), tetrakis(biphenyl)borate (2), tetrakis(2-naphthyl)borate (3), tetrakis(4-phenylphenol)borate (4), and tetrakis(4-phenoxy)borate (5), have been prepared and tested as ion-recognition sites in chemical sensors for certain aromatic cations and metal ions. Anodic stripping voltammetric determination of heavy metals in solutions containing humic acids

Various simultaneous effects of humic acids on the current and potential of differential pulse anodic stripping peaks of copper, lead, cadmium and zinc in weakly alkaline and acidic (pH 2) solutions have been investigated and interpreted with regard to metal complexation and the adsorption of humic acid on the mercury electrode. The applicability of the standard additions method for metal quantitation and the experimental conditions for UV-photolysis with a high-pressure mercury lamp have been examined in model as well as real water samples.
