Partial Discharges in HVDC Cables - The Effect of the Temperature Gradient During Load Transients

The paper investigates the role of the space charge accumulation phenomena in the inception of Partial Discharges (PD) in a defect within the bulk of the dielectrics of a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable. It is widespread accepted that the number of PD occurring in an HVDC cable during its lifetime is largely less than that under AC voltage stress. This is essentially due to higher values of the voltage between the conductor and the screen needed to trigger PD under a steady DC voltage than the same value under AC stress. An Innovative Coupling Solution for Power Line Communication in MV Electrical Networks

One of the main problems in the diffusion of power line communication (PLC) in medium voltage (MV) networks is the need of a dedicated PLC coupler to be installed all over the network. To avoid this problem, the authors have studied, prototyped and patented an innovative PLC coupling solution which uses electrical elements embedded in most of the switchgears already installed in MV networks, i.e. the capacitive dividers of the voltage detecting systems (VDS). Huit objets de cuivre et de bronze du piémont pyrénéen oriental : analyse croisée typologique et métallique

Cet article porte sur huit pièces à base de cuivre – deux haches plates et six poignards – provenant de la zone sous-pyrénéenne orientale (Corbières, Haute Vallée de l’Aude, Pays d’OImes), dans les départements de l’Aude et de l’Ariège de l’Est (région de Lavelanet). Elles sont décrites et replacées dans leur contexte typochronologique, alors que les aspects technoéconomiques sont envisagés via la composition métallique (composition élémentaire et rapports isotopiques du plomb). BIE-based aeroacoustic design procedure

A propeller low noise design procedure based on boundary integral equation is presented. The aerodynamic field is computed via a potential-based boundary element method for lifting body while the aeroacoustic emitted field is calculated on the basis of the Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings equation. Families of airfoils sections are aerodynamically processed to select the ones that meet the requested performance. Symbiotic associations between animals and microbes are ubiquitous in nature, with an estimated 15% of all insect species harboring intracellular bacterial symbionts. Most bacterial symbionts share many genomic features including small genomes, nucleotide composition bias, high coding density, and a paucity of mobile DNA, consistent with long-term host association. Maģistra darbā aplūkota pārrobežu ceļu satiksmes negadījumu tiesību aktu piemērojamības problemātika, kas nav plaši pētīta, bet ir nozīmīga starptautisko privāttiesību sastāvdaļa, skatot ceļu satiksmes negadījumu lietas, kurās ir ārvalsts elements. Darba mērķis ir apzināt pārrobežu ceļu satiksmes negadījumu piemērojamā likuma kritērijus un to ietvaru. Lai to sasniegtu, autore pētīs Hāgas konvencijas un Roma II regulas tiesību normu saturu, kā arī to praktisku piemērojamību. Darbā iegūtie rezultāti: autore piedāvā izveidot vienotu tiesisko pieeju pārrobežu ceļu satiksmes negadījumos, ES teritorijā piemērojot tikai Roma II regulas tiesību normas.

Practical Strategies for Stable Operation of HFF-QCM in Continuous Air Flow

Currently there are a few fields of application using quartz crystal microbalances (QCM). Because of environmental conditions and insufficient resolution of the microbalance, chemical sensing of volatile organic compounds in an open system was as yet not possible. In this study we present strategies on how to use 195 MHz fundamental quartz resonators for a mobile sensor platform to detect airborne analytes. Commonly the use of devices with a resonant frequency of about 10 MHz is standard. By increasing the frequency to 195 MHz the frequency shift increases by a factor of almost 400.
