Abnormal peripubertal development of the rat mammary gland following exposure in utero and during lactation to a mixture of genistein and the food co…
2011
The impact of early exposure to endocrine disruptor mixtures on mammary gland development is poorly known. Here, we identify the effects of a conception to weaning exposure of rats to the phytoestrogen genistein (G) and/or the antiandrogen vinclozolin (V) at 1 mg/kg-d, alone or in association. Using several approaches, we found that G- and GV-exposed rats displayed significantly greater epithelial branching and proliferation, wider terminal end buds than controls at PND35, as well as ductal hyperplasia and periductal fibrosis. Focal branching defects were present in V-exposed rats. An increased ER and AR expression was observed in G- and CV- as compared to V-exposed rats at PND35. Surprisin…

Assessing environmental noise exposure: does the size of the neighbourhood matter?
2013
International audience; In environmental epidemiology, studies rely on the quantification of subject'sexposures in a surface defined as the subject exposure area. For outdoor exposure, this area is often considered as the subject's neighbourhood. But, depending on the authors, the size and the nature of this neighbourhood differs, making difficult to compare results. In order to study the impact of the sampling surface on the noise exposure values affected to a subject, a high definition environmental noise model has been builton a middle-sized French city. Outdoor neighbourhood noise indices were computed at 10,394 residential buildings, using eight different sizes of buffers defined by di…
Is the improvement of the nutritional quality compatible with the maintenance of the sensory quality? : the example of biscuits
2013
French biscuit producers are willing to improve the nutritional composition of their products. The. objective of this work was to determine whether it was possible while maintaining the sensory. quality of the reduced product. The first study dealt with the impact of fat and sugar reduction on liking and sensory perception of. 9 types of biscuits and cakes. Results show that children perceived almost no difference and liked. equally the standard and the fat- and/or sugar-reduced variants for most types of biscuits. For. products reduced without adding polyols, adults less like fat- or sugar-reduced variants than. standard ones mainly when they were perceived as less sweet, and to a lesser e…

Développement et évaluation d'une méthode fondée sur la PCR temps réel pour la caractérisation des bioaérosols : application au groupe des actinomycè…
2013
Actinomycetes are ubiquitous bacteria and some can be potentially pathogen for Humans in the air of some working areas. It’s notably the case in composting plants where bacteria concentrations can reach high values. Workers exposure to these inhalable bioaerosols can be source of various diseases (hypersensitivity pneumonitis notably). Although this problem is admitted, bibliography reveals a lack of knowledge about risk assessment: currently, none global method for bioaerosols sampling and analysis is standardized. So much that neither dose-effects relationship for most of these bacteria, nor Threshold Limit Value exists. Traditional methods, that are used, have some drawbacks (concentrati…
Vulnerability during pregnancy in an urban environment : do environmental and individual risk factors cumulate?
2018
International audience; Apart from demographic, socio-economic, behavioral, nutritional and medico-obstetrical factors, environmental factors have been suggested to be associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as preterm birth, low birth weight or hypertensive disorders. According to a recent review of the literature, there is some suggestive evidence of adverse associations with environmental noise especially for low birth weight. However, the way these individual and environmental vulnerabilities combine has been scarcely studied. The objective of this study was to describe the accumulation of individual, socio-economics, medical and environmental vulnerability markers and to asses…

Indoor noise exposure assessment of primary school children living in a french urban area
2012
International audience; The recent development of powerful noise mapping softwares allows to assess the exposure to environmental noise at the scale of an agglomeration. However noise levels inside dwellings are still unknown at such scales. To evaluate indoor noise levels and to investigate the factors which determine them, an eight-day noise measurement campaign was carried out in 50 childrens home. These children were randomly chosen among 8 or 9-year-old pupils attending the public primary schools of Besançon (France). Microphones were placed in the childs bedroom, outdoor in front of the bedrooms facade, and in the main room. Equivalent sound pressure levels (LAeq) were calculated d…
