Le dichiarazioni pubbliche del Presidente Mattarella nella formazione del Governo e l’evoluzione dell’istituzione presidenziale
2022
The paper analyzes the role of the Head of State's influential judiciary in the formation of the Government, both following new political elections and in the management of government crises. As is well known, the Head of State, in order to carry out his activity of moderation, persuasion and stimulus towards the political bodies, has combined the formal presidential powers with informal tools and procedures of moral suasion. The informality of the aforementioned activities and procedures has allowed a greater margin of intervention and influence of the President of the Republic in the exercise of his functions of political intermediation, during the phases of government crisis management a…
Il sistema di educazione continua in medicina [The system of continuous medical education]
2012
The system of continuous education in medicine, recently revisited in Italy by the Minister/ of Health, is a pool of procedures finalized to guarantee the periodic accumulation of credits for the sanitary personnel, on the basis of the needs and requests of medical activities. Pediatricians, those medical doctors which take care of newborns, infants, children and adolescents, both in primary and hospital care, must receive both residential and distance formation. A multidisciplinary approach of general and spécialiste pediatrics must be guaranteed by scientific societies and sponsors.
Sistema d'accoglienza e fabbisogni formativi
2007
Prehatching maternal investment and offspring immunity in the pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca).
2007
Maternal investment in offspring immunity via egg quality may be an adaptive evolutionary strategy shaped by natural selection. We investigated how maternal investment in eggs can influence offspring immunity by conducting two experiments. First, we manipulated foraging performance of the mothers before egg laying by attaching a small weight to their back feathers. During the nestling period, we investigated offspring total antibody production at the age of 7 days and after antibody challenge, and conducted a partial cross-fostering design to separate the effects of the experiment and rearing-related variation on offspring immunity. In a separate experiment, partial cross-fostering with ant…

Shock formation in the dispersionless Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation
2016
The dispersionless Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (dKP) equation $(u_t+uu_x)_x=u_{yy}$ is one of the simplest nonlinear wave equations describing two-dimensional shocks. To solve the dKP equation we use a coordinate transformation inspired by the method of characteristics for the one-dimensional Hopf equation $u_t+uu_x=0$. We show numerically that the solutions to the transformed equation do not develop shocks. This permits us to extend the dKP solution as the graph of a multivalued function beyond the critical time when the gradients blow up. This overturned solution is multivalued in a lip shape region in the $(x,y)$ plane, where the solution of the dKP equation exists in a weak sense only, and a…
Numerical study of the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation and dispersive shock waves
2018
A detailed numerical study of the long time behaviour of dispersive shock waves in solutions to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) I equation is presented. It is shown that modulated lump solutions emerge from the dispersive shock waves. For the description of dispersive shock waves, Whitham modulation equations for KP are obtained. It is shown that the modulation equations near the soliton line are hyperbolic for the KPII equation while they are elliptic for the KPI equation leading to a focusing effect and the formation of lumps. Such a behaviour is similar to the appearance of breathers for the focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation in the semiclassical limit.
Observation of Optical Undular Bores in Multiple Four-Wave Mixing
2014
International audience; We demonstrate that wave-breaking dramatically affects the dynamics of nonlinear frequency conversion processes that operate in the regime of high efficiency (strong multiple four-wave mixing). In particular, by exploiting an all-optical-fiber platform, we show that input modulations propagating in standard telecom fibers in the regime of weak normal dispersion lead to the formation of undular bores (dispersive shock waves) that mimic the typical behavior of dispersive hydrodynamics exhibited, e.g., by gravity waves and tidal bores. Thanks to the nonpulsed nature of the beat signal employed in our experiment, we are able to clearly observe how the periodic nature of …
Exploring the role of cosmological shock waves in the Dianoga simulations of galaxy clusters
2021
Cosmological shock waves are ubiquitous to cosmic structure formation and evolution. As a consequence, they play a major role in the energy distribution and thermalization of the intergalactic medium (IGM). We analyze the Mach number distribution in the Dianoga simulations of galaxy clusters performed with the SPH code GADGET-3. The simulations include the effects of radiative cooling, star formation, metal enrichment, supernova and active galactic nuclei feedback. A grid-based shock-finding algorithm is applied in post-processing to the outputs of the simulations. This procedure allows us to explore in detail the distribution of shocked cells and their strengths as a function of cluster ma…
