The binding properties of HL1, HL2, and HL3 ligands toward Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions, constituted by tetraaza-macrocyclic rings decorated with pyrimidine pendants, were investigated by means of potentiometric and UV spectrophotometric measurements in aqueous solution, with the objective of using the related HL-M(II) (HL = HL1–HL3; M = Cu, Zn) complexes for the preparation of hybrid MWCNT-HL-M(II) materials based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), through an environmentally friendly noncovalent procedure. DFT computational study on Fe(III)-N,N′-ethylene-bis(salicylideneiminato) derivatives

DFT calculations, at unrestricted B3LYP level, have been performed on the structures of three iron(III) complexes, Fe(Salen)Cl, [Fe(Salen)]+ and [Fe(Salen)OH2]+, where Salen is the anion of Schiff base ligand N,N′-ethylene-bis (salicylideneimine), considering the spin multiplicity (S) values 2, 4 and 6. The results obtained have been compared with the available structural an magnetic experimental data, allowing us to conclude that a stable form of the FeIII(Salen) complex in aqueous solution should be characterized by an energy stabilization of the S=4 compared to the S=6 state.

Reduction of titanium and vanadium compounds is a process accompanying the activation of coordinative olefin polymerization catalysts. This article proposes a reflection about Italian art exhibitions on Middle Ages all over the twentieth century in order to understand the reception of medieval history in Italy. The Italian case is compared with the other European countries and their own relationships with Middle Ages. The articles studies also the important changes in the cultural offer and in the museum function during the last decade of the twentieth century and analyses their major consequences on the exhibitions. Lastly the ‘status’ of the exhibited objects and their mise-en-scene are examined.

Ground Stone Tools (GST) have been identified in several Levantine archaeological sites dating to the Middle Paleolithic. These tools, frequently made of limestone, are often interpreted based on their morphology and damage as having been used for knapping flint, and sometimes for breaking animal bones or processing vegetal materials as well. However, the lack of experimental referential collections on limestone is a major obstacle for the identification of diagnostic traces on these types of tools and raw material. Sensitivity of noble gas NMR parameters to the heterocyclic ring proximity. Density functional theory studies of Ne–furan and Ar–furan complexes

Theoretical modeling of noble gas interaction with furan as a simple heterocyclic ring was performed. The structures of neon–furan and argon–furan complexes were calculated at the MP2, M06-2X, CAM-B3LYP, APFD, and VSXC levels of theory using 6-311++G** basis set. The predicted 21Ne and 39Ar NMR chemical shifts for the Ne–furan and Ar–furan complexes calculated with pcS-3 and aug-pcS-3 basis sets were sensitive to the presence of the aromatic furan ring. Our results indicate a higher sensitivity of the neon and argon NMR probes than the previously reported 3He NMR spectroscopic parameters in studies of small heterocyclic rings containing the oxygen atom.

Abstract We consider the propagation of a flame front in a solid periodic medium. It is governed by an equation of Hamilton–Jacobi type, whose front’s velocity depends on the temperature via a nonlinear degenerate kinetic rate. The temperature solves a free boundary problem subject to boundary conditions depending on the front’s velocity itself. We show the existence of nonplanar traveling wave solutions which are bounded and global. Previous results by the same authors (cf. Abstract Background Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a group of clinically and etiologically heterogeneous conditions, characterized by prenatal onset contractures affecting two or more joints.
