Stress proteins HSP90 and Gp96 in graft-versus-host disease : pathophysiological, diagnostic and therapeutic implication
2015
Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation is a treatment for certain disorders including hematologic malignancies. Graft-versus-host-disease (GvHD) is a major, life-threatening complication. It is due to the recognition of recipient antigens by donor T cells, which activate and damage tissues. Intestinal barrier alteration plays a critical role in GvHD. Heat shock proteins (HSP)90 include five members, three cytosolic members named HSP90, and one member localized in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) called Gp96 and able to gain extracellular level in case of stress. We show in our thesis that 17AAG, a HSP90 inhibitor, reduces GvHD mortality in a mouse model. This effect is associated with an i…
Antilymphocyte Globulin for Prevention of Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease.
2016
Clinical Trial, Phase III; Journal Article; Multicenter Study; Randomized Controlled Trial; Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't; BACKGROUND Chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is the leading cause of later illness and death after allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation. We hypothesized that the inclusion of antihuman T-lymphocyte immune globulin (ATG) in a myeloablative conditioning regimen for patients with acute leukemia would result in a significant reduction in chronic GVHD 2 years after allogeneic peripheral-blood stem-cell transplantation from an HLA-identical sibling. METHODS We conducted a prospective, multicenter, open-label, randomized phase 3 study of ATG as part of …
A VR-based serious game for studying emotional regulation in adolescents
2015
[EN] We all use more or less adapted strategies to confront adverse emotional situations in our lives without being psychologically affected. Emotional Regulation (ER) strategies that we use determine the way in which we feel, express and behave. Moreover, ER strategies are particularly important in adolescents, a population in the age when the deficits of ER strategies can be linked to the appearance of numerous mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety, or disruptive behaviors. Thus, the early detection of dysfunctional ER strategies and the training in adaptive ER strategies will help us to prevent the future occurrence of possible behavioral and psychosocial disorders. In th…
Choice of CTO scores to predict procedural success in clinical practice. A comparison of 4 different CTO PCI scores in a comprehensive national regis…
2021
Background We aimed to compare the performance of the recent CASTLE score to J-CTO, CL and PROGRESS CTO scores in a comprehensive database of percutaneous coronary intervention of chronic total occlusion procedures. Methods Scores were calculated using raw data from 1,342 chronic total occlusion procedures included in REBECO Registry that includes learning and expert operators. Calibration, discrimination and reclassification were evaluated and compared. Results Mean score values were: CASTLE 1.60±1.10, J-CTO 2.15±1.24, PROGRESS 1.68±0.94 and CL 2.52±1.52 points. The overall percutaneous coronary intervention success rate was 77.8%. Calibration was good for CASTLE and CL, but not for J-CTO…
Growth Differentiation Factor-15 (GDF-15) Levels Are Associated with Cardiac and Renal Injury in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting …
2014
International audience; Objective: Growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) has been identified as a strong marker of cardiovascular disease; however, no data are available concerning the role of GDF-15 in the occurrence of organ dysfunction during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) associated with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: Five arterial blood samples were taken sequentially in 34 patients from anesthesia induction (IND) until 24 h after arrival at the intensive care unit (ICU). Plasma levels of GDF-15, follistatin-like 1 (FLST1), myeloperoxidases (MPO), hydroperoxides and plasma antioxidant status (PAS) were measured at each time-point. Markers of cardiac (cardiac-troponi…
Late carotid artery stent erosion and pseudoaneurysm after accidental hyperextension of the neck
2010
A 75-year-old man was referred to our unit complaining of a large pulsatile neck mass that appeared 2 days after an accidental fall and hyperextension of the neck. One month earlier, he was submitted to left carotid artery stenting for symptomatic high-grade stenosis. His medical history included diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, and a right femoropopliteal bypass for critical limb ischemia. At the time of admission, he was afebrile and had no evidence of local erythema, draining sinus, or leukocytosis. Moreover, C-reactive protein was 1 mg/dL. The clinical examination revealed a large swelling in the region of the left carotid bifurcation and mild dyspnea. Arterial duplex imaging…
The effects of age and emotional valence on recognition memory: An ex-Gaussian components analysis
2014
[EN] The aim of this work was to study the effects of valence and age on visual image recognition memory. The International Affective Picture System (IAPS) battery was used, and response time data were analyzed using analysis of variance, as well as an ex-Gaussian fit method. Older participants were slower and more variable in their reaction times. Response times were longer for negative valence pictures, however this was statistically significant only for young participants. This suggests that negative emotional valence has a strong effect on recognition memory in young but not in old participants. The tau parameter, often related to attention in the literature, was smaller for young than …
Preliminary evaluation of near-infrared vein visualization technology in the screening of palatal blood vessels.
2018
Background Avoidance from palatal blood vessel rupture is a major concern during the palatal soft tissue graft surgery. There is no defined chair-side and case-specific palatal blood vessel detection approach to facilitate the harvesting process. The objective of this pilot study is to assess the feasibility of a near-infrared vein visualization system in the screening process of palatal blood vessels. Material and Methods An extraoral vein visualization device (AccuVein AV400) was applied to a total of 304 hemi-maxilla of 152 individuals by two blind examiners. The study groups were classified according to their maximum inter-incisal measurements. The distances between the coronal border o…
