Purpose. To describe the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of bilensectomy (pIOL explant and phacoemulsification), followed by DMEK performed for bullous keratopathy secondary to pIOL.Methods. Seven eyes of seven patients, who developed corneal decompensation after pIOL implantation, underwent bilensectomy followed by DMEK in a two-step procedure. Main outcome measures included uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refraction, endothelial cell density (ECD) at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months, and intraoperative and postoperative complications.Results. Reconstruction of full-thickness chest wall defects usually entails the use of regional pedicled myocutaneous flaps as first-choice option. As defect complexity increases and local options are not available, microsurgical reconstruction is required to transfer reliable and well-vascularized tissues from distant sites. Size, anatomic location, presence of dead spaces, and extent of eventual bone defect should be assessed for proper selection of the flap. Regional recipient vessels should be previously identified and checked in order to consider alternatively the need of extension of distant recipient vessels through arteriovenous (AV) loops or vein graft interposition.

The potential role of active CMV infection in promoting acute Graft-versus-Host Disease (aGvHD) in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains a matter of debate. We further addressed this issue conducting a retrospective, observational, multicenter study of 632 patients subjected to allogeneic peripheral blood HSCT at 20 Spanish centers.
