Objective: Evaluate the use of lingual mucosal graft (LMG) in anterior urethral strictures.Methods: From January 2001 to December 2006, 29 men (mean age, 48.5 yr) with anterior urethral strictures underwent graft urethroplasty with LMG. The mean length of stricture was 3.6 cm. Patients with bulbar, penile, or bulbopenile strictures received one-stage dorsal free graft urethroplasties. In patients with failed hypospadias repair we performed a two-stage urethroplasty. Criteria for successful reconstruction were spontaneous voiding with no postvoid residual urine and no postoperative instrumentation of any kind. Abstract We investigated functional and radiological outcome in 57 cases of midshaft clavicle nonunion treated with open reduction and internal fixation with plate and screws over a 13 year-period. Intercalary bone graft was used in 42 patients; opposite autologous strut graft was used in 31 cases to provide mechanical support to the host bone. Patients were analysed using chart and radiological review and assessed with DASH questionnaire obtained at the latest follow-up. 37 patients were male while 20 were females, with a mean age of 35 years (63–17). Repair of the mandibular nerve by means of autologous nerve grafting after resection of the lower jaw

Summary On the basis of two cases we demonstrate our method of autologous nerve grafting for substitution of the mandibular nerve after mandibular resection. The sural nerve served as a donor nerve, the graft was imbedded microsurgically at the juncture points by means of a perineurial interfascicular nerve suture. Oversized grafts of about 20 cm in length were chosen intentionally in order to insert them without tension between the stumps of the recipient nerve and outside the regeneration zone of the bone. In both cases complete resensibilization of the lower lip was reached after about six months.
The efficacy of N-acetylcysteine as a hepatoprotective agent in liver transplantation

One of the most common complications after liver transplantation is primary graft dysfunction which results from severe deterioration of the microcirculation. The data obtained from our experimental studies indicate that N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is able to reduce the severity of ischemia/reperfusion injury and improves postoperative graft function after liver transplantation in rats. The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the efficacy of NAC as a hepatoprotective agent under clinical conditions.
