This collection of papers addresses new trends in Cognitive Linguistics. Three parts of the book focus on Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Integration Network Analysis. Both the theoretical contributions and the empirical case studies stress the importance of contextual factors in the meaning making processes. They employ qualitative methods to analyze the use of metaphor in political discourse and in the conceptualization of emotions. Literary Machines and Automata: Feedbacking Poetics The article discusses the concepts of “machine”, “automatic”, and “feedback loop” as literary and poetic ideas from the terminological, historical, and contemporary perspectives. All of them can be seen as somewhat paradoxical terms, carrying human and organic connotations with them. The key phenomenon of this article is the generator, a machine or system that produces – generates – text. The history of poetic automata extends well beyond the Internet, computer, or even electricity. Generating Hyperspectral Skin Cancer Imagery using Generative Adversarial Neural Network

In this study we develop a proof of concept of using generative adversarial neural networks in hyperspectral skin cancer imagery production. Generative adversarial neural network is a neural network, where two neural networks compete. The generator tries to produce data that is similar to the measured data, and the discriminator tries to correctly classify the data as fake or real. This is a reinforcement learning model, where both models get reinforcement based on their performance. In the training of the discriminator we use data measured from skin cancer patients. The aim for the study is to develop a generator for augmenting hyperspectral skin cancer imagery. peerReviewed

A novel chatbot architecture for the Italian language is presented that is aimed at implementing cognitive under- standing of the query by locating its cor- respondent subgraph in the agent’s KB by means of a graph matching strategy pur- posely devised. The FCG engine is used for producing replies starting from the se- mantic poles extracted from the candidate answers’ subgraphs. This paper will address the predicative nature of manner adverb(ial)s and of three types of sentence adverbs (subject-oriented, modal, and evaluative) in Italian. Predication often becomes overt by means of morphological correlates. Is it possible to find any such evidence with invariable adverbs? To unveil their predicative nature, a procedure will be suggested in which two sentences, one with a -mente adverb, the other with its cognate adjective (a) share the content morphemes (identity of the signifiant) and (b) entail each other (identity of the signifié as regards semantic roles).
