‘A Swarm of Sound’

Author's accepted manuscript. This article explores the idea of audiovisual immersion through the portal of the virtual reality music video. Our focus falls on a close reading of Björk’s video, ‘Family’, which addresses questions of immersion in relation to user-experience, staging, and technological innovation. This article draws on the authors’ responses to the video by considering the implications of VR immersion in a new generation of music video productions. As part of the methodology on offer, a model for music analysis is devised for conceptualising virtual audiovisual space (VAVS) and the inextricable relationships between production and compositional design.

Abstract: Due to technological constraints, hyperspectral earth observation imagery are often a mosaic of overlapping flight lines collected in different passes over the area of interest. This causes variations in aqcuisition conditions such that the reflected spectrum can vary significantly between these flight lines. Partly, this problem is solved by atmospherical correction, but residual spectral differences often remain. A Novel Artificial Mosaic Generation Technique Driven by Local Gradient Analysis

Art often provides valuable hints for technological innovations especially in the field of Image Processing and Computer Graphics. In this paper we present a novel method to generate an artificial mosaic starting from a raster input image. This approach, based on Gradient Vector Flow computation and some smart heuristics, permit us to follow the most important edges maintaining at the same time high frequency details. Several examples and comparisons with other recent mosaic generation approaches show the effectiveness of our technique.

A problem, scarcely addressed so far, is how to distribute video streaming traffic from one source to all nodes in an urban vehicular network. Abstract Reliable patient-specific ventricular repolarization times (RTs) can identify regions of functional block or afterdepolarizations, indicating arrhythmogenic cardiac tissue and the risk of sudden cardiac death. Unipolar electrograms (UEs) record electric potentials, and the Wyatt method has been shown to be accurate for estimating RT from a UE. High-pass filtering is an important step in processing UEs, however, it is known to distort the T-wave phase of the UE, which may compromise the accuracy of the Wyatt method. In this paper, we consider disassembly scenarios for real-world 3D CAD-data, where each component is defined by a triangle mesh. For a fast construction of collision-free disassembly paths, common approaches use sampling-based rigid body motion planning which is well studied in the literature. One fact that has so far received little attention is that in industrial disassembly scenarios components are often attached to each other with flexible fastening elements like clips. Compression of binary images based on covering

The paper describes a new technique to compress binary images based on an image covering algorithm. The idea is that binary images can be always covered by rectangles, univocally described by a vertex and two adjacent edges (L-shape). Some optimisations are necessary to consider degenerate configurations. The method has been tested on several images representing drawings and typed texts. The comparison with existing image file compression techniques shows a good performance of our approach. Further optimisations are under development.
