Up with ecology, down with economy? : The consolidation of the idea of climate change mitigation in the global public sphere

Building on theories of valuation and evaluation, we develop an analytical framework that outlines six elements of the process of consolidation of an idea in the public sphere. We then use the framework to analyse the process of consolidation of the idea of climate change mitigation between 1997 and 2013, focusing on the interplay between ecological and economic evaluations. Globaali koronaviruspandemia on vakavin poliittista päätöksentekoa kohdannut kriisi vuosikymmeniin. Nykypolitiikassa kriiseihin vastaamista ja niistä toipumista hahmotetaan usein resilienssin käsitteen avulla, joka viittaa kriisinsietokykyyn ja kriisiä seuraavaan mukautumisprosessiin. Tässä artikkelissa koronapandemian hoitoa Suomessa arvioidaan resilienssikirjallisuuden käsitteiden avulla. Artikkelissamme käsittelemme poliitikkoihin kohdistuvaa vihapuhetta sukupuolittuneena ilmiönä, johon liittyvät monenlaiset tunteet ja affektit. Vihapuhe vaikuttaa kohteisiinsa monin tavoin ja saa aikaan erilaisia tunteita ja tuntemuksia. Määrittelemme vihapuheen tietyn ryhmän todelliseen tai oletettuun ominaisuuteen kohdistuvaksi uhkaavaksi, halveksivaksi tai syrjiväksi puheeksi, joka vaikuttaa kohteisiinsa fyysisen väkivallan tavoin. Tarkastelemme vihapuhetta rajatusti politiikan toimijoihin kohdistuvana verbaalisena poliittisena väkivaltana. Global, National, or Market? Emerging REDD+ Governance Practices in Mozambique and Tanzania

This article examines emerging governance practices in the REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiative. We examine three different general governance practices (neoliberal, post-national, and government-led practices) that have been applied in the interaction between international organizations and two REDD target countries: Mozambique and Tanzania.
