Design of an electromagnetic regenerative shock absorber is proposed in this paper. In order to increase the efficiency of land vehicles the sources of energy losses have to be eliminated, or reduced. For this reason, several systems, recovering kinetic energy and converting it into electrical power, were studied and designed in the last years. This energy, converted into heat in traditional systems, is recovered to increase the autonomy of the vehicle. The use of mobile sensing robots and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is intended to lessen the burden of sensor node energy consumption. Porcine Model for Internal Mammary Vessels Harvesting

Recipient vessels selection is crucial for successful microsurgical breast reconstruction. The internal mammary vessels (IMVs) have gained great popularity, and they are often selected as first choice recipient vessels. The IMVs can be exposed for microvascular anastomosis through a rib-removing (trans-costal) or a rib-sparing (intercostal) approach.1–3 Because the vessels are located between the rib cage and the parietal pleura, adequate training is needed to avoid and eventually manage bleedings and pleural perforation. This training is better performed in a nonhuman model. Our aim was to investigate the pig as a surgical model for IMVs harvesting to be used in training.

Self-powered IoT Device based on Energy Harvesting for Remote Applications

In this paper, we present the design and prototype implementation of self-powered Internet of Things (IoT) device based on energy harvesting from a small solar panel of size 63mm x 63mm and 0.36W for remote applications. These IoT devices can be deployed in remote places within the range of a gateway. A complete proof of concept IoT device based on ambient energy harvesting is designed, prototyped and tested with super capacitors and Lithium cells in star topology. Based on the measurements, the IoT device can potentially last for one year with 55 seconds transmission interval with the fully charged 120mAh coin cell battery.
