Ischemia is the most important factor that affects organ survival during harvesting. The two-layer method (TLM) is one of several cold storage solutions that seeks to preserve organs and cells avoiding in vivo and in vitro ischemia. We compared the retrieval of beta-like elements from exocrine pancreatic cells using TLM versus University of Wisconsin (UW) solutions. Abstract Generally the transplanting surgeon accepts or declines the offer of a marginal organ in view of all available information. Hence, in some cases it is the procurement surgeon who decides about the suitability for potential further liver transplantation. Methods From January 1, 2003 to September 30, 2005, a total of 402 organ procurement operations were performed in our region. The Domuyo volcanic complex (Neuquén Province, Argentina) hosts one of the most promising geothermal systems of Patagonia, giving rise to thermal manifestations discharging hot and Cl−-rich fluids. This study reports a complete geochemical dataset of gas and water samples collected in three years (2013, 2014 and 2015) from the main fluid discharges of this area. The chemical and isotopic composition (δD-H2O and δ18O-H2O) of waters indicates that rainwater and snow melting are the primary recharge of a hydrothermal reservoir located at relative shallow depth (400–600 m) possibly connected to a second deeper (2–3 km) reservoir. The “Harvesting Memories” project aims to address diachronic change in landscape and settlement patterns during the long-term in the area of Sicani Mountains in Central-West Sicily (Italy). This area is a sort of palimpsest of Mediterranean inland areas characterized by a long-term occupation of low-lying lands suitable for agriculture and hills for pastoral activi-ties. Rainwater composition over a rural area with special emphasis on the size distribution of insoluble particulate matter

The rainwater composition in the vicinity of Mainz, FRG, has been investigated with special emphasis on insoluble constituents. The number size distribution was determined in the range from 0.1 μm up to 100 μm radius. For particles with r>0.5 μm radius the shape of the size distribution of insoluble particles in rain follows the shape of the average urban and rural aerosol. In this particular size range no major size selective removal processes could be seen. For r<0.5 μm the number size distribution tends to flatten compared to the average aerosol. This might be the indication of a size selective removal process (Greenfield Gap).

Design and Implementation of an Ultra-Low Power Wake-up Radio for Wireless IoT Devices

In this paper, we present the design and prototype implementation of an ultra-low power wake-up radio for wireless IoT devices. The prototyped wake-up radio consumes only 580nA from 3V power supply, covers distance range of up to 55 meters and achieves a sensitivity of -49.5dBm. This wakeup radio module can easily be integrated into wireless IoT devices and thereby reducing the overall power consumption of the battery powered and energy harvesting based devices. The prolonged life time of the devices can reduce the overall costs when deployed in large scale.
