Characteristics of LiFePO4 obtained through a one step continuous hydrothermal synthesis process working in supercritical water

International audience; The olivine-like material LiFePO4 was prepared via a continuous hydrothermal synthesis process working from subcritical to supercritical water conditions. The influence of some processing parameters–temperature and reaction time–was investigated in terms of material purity, grain size and morphology. Supercritical conditions were found to be attractive to synthesize in one step a well-crystallized material without impurities. The primary particles size was in the nanometric range. Fracture Toughness of Hydrothermally Aged Epoxy Systems with Different Crosslink Density

Abstract The present work investigates the fracture toughness behaviour of Single Edge Notched Bending (SENB) samples of epoxy systems subject to water uptake aging. Two epoxy systems with a significantly different Glass Transition Temperature, T g , are in particular considered: a typical commercial non-aeronautical grade resin matrix for composite applications, reaching a T g of 90 °C, and a DGEBA+DDS epoxy system achieving a T g of 230 °C.The materials have been conditioned by hydrothermal aging in a thermal bath at the temperature of 50 °C. Abstract Samples of efflorescences and encrustations of hydrothermal origin were collected at Sousaki (Greece) and analysed for their mineralogical (XRD) and chemical composition. Solutions obtained both from mineralization with HNO3 and from leaching with deionised water were analysed for major (ICP-OES), minor and trace metals (ICP-MS) and sulfate contents (IC). Results evidence the dependence of the chemical and mineralogical composition on micro-environmental conditions i.e. humidity, oxygen-rich or -poor environment, exposed or sheltered from meteoric agents. Effect of hydrothermal time on the forming specific morphology of YPO4:Eu3+ nanoparticles for dedicated luminescent applications as optical markers

A way to control the desired shape and microstructure of YPO4:Eu3+ nanoparticles through the precipitation method followed by a hydrothermal treatment is reported. This method is useful for achieving very high control over the YPO4:Eu3+ formation process with the selection of appropriate synthesis parameters. Steam catalytic cracking of naphtha in smaller FCC units can be considered an option to produce more ethene and propene. These units will operate at high reaction temperatures and in the presence of steam. Discrimination between effects induced by microbial activity and water-rock interactions under hydrothermal conditions according to REE behaviour

AbstractRare earth elements (REE) were investigated in siliceous stromatolites forming in the Specchio di Venere Lake on Pantelleria Island. Chondrite-normalised patterns show significant La enrichments and Eu depletions suggesting that fluids involved in stromatolite growth experienced strong rock-water interactions under hydrothermal conditions. At the same time, enrichments in heavy REE (HREE) with respect to intermediate REE (MREE) suggest that hydrothermal fluids interacted with microbial mats during deposition of the stromatolites. This PhD thesis concerns the geochemistry of Zr, Hf and REE in extreme water environments characterized by a wide spectrum of chemical physical-parameters and compositions.
